Description
Some low-key stuff for my expanded narrative. I really need to come up with a good name for this setting...Included: Re-tooled comic and unused character concepts, refined and repurposed for my future stories. There's canon if you squint hard enough!

Recap Kid
Omniscient Observer
"Did you - uhhh - did you know that INVADER ZIM wasn't always a comic? I think it was a puppet show back before the comics!"
Description: Excitable, eccentric and unquestionably uncanny, The Recap Kid is a mysterious youth who holds secrets of Zim's past, present and future. No one knows who they are or where they come from but one thing is certain: If there's a story to tell, Recap Kid will always be there with the details!
Design Notes:
"Mimi Membrane"
Missing Matriarch
"Who is this little creature?"
Description: A woman from Professor Membrane's past. Known only in tabloids as "Membrane's assistant," very little is understood about the supposed mother of Dib and Gaz. Her ethereal charm hides an intellect to rival her partner's...and a dangerous secret to shatter the cosmos.
Design Notes:
Ex-Tallest Spork
Broken Sovereign
"SALUTE ME!"
Description: The previous ruler of the Irken Empire, whose short-lived reign helped set the stage for Operation Impending Doom. Crippled in a freak accident many years ago, Spork is confined to a defunct medical station on the furthest edge of Irken space. He holds a grudge against Zim and harbors delusions of one day reclaiming the empire for himself.
Design Notes:
VIROOZ 2.0
Couch Potato
"Hey, unlimited piles of money does weird things to everyone."
Description: Cyberflox CEO and disgruntled fanboy turned malicious bodyjacking AI. Despite losing his original flesh and a grand profit margin in the galactic economy, Fitzoo-Menga still prides himself in being Zim's number one fan and will go to tremendous lengths to steer his idol back to "greatness."
Design Notes:
Vestigial Horror - Waking Nightmare
"The universe is just doomed. Doom, doom, doooooom..."
Description: A living remnant of Zim's energy experiment from his scientist days on Planet Vort. Although not nearly as powerful or destructive, it retains many of its predecessor's abilities, such as localized meta event manipulation, shapeshifting and energy absorption. It is believed to have crash landed on Earth many years ago, in an area that would eventually become the site of a certain Elementary Skool...

Background lore stuff:
- During the crisis at Vort Research Station #9, Zim's energy-absorbing Blob (Dubbed: "Cthulu") was exposed to an infinite energy source. It grew to an immeasurable size, consuming everything in its wake. It later went on to devour all things in the universe, including concepts of time and space -- paradoxically erasing itself and its influence from the timeline. These events were only felt by the Abs of the Time and Space (IZ Issue #32), however Zim retains some recollection of them thanks to quantum mechanics.
- A side effect of the above, the Tallest of that era were not destroyed, but were instead displaced in spacetime.
- Despite his apparent dislike of Earth culture poisoning Zim, Fitzoo-Menga has a fondness for Earth cartoons. He pirated all three hundred seasons of "Floopsy Bloops Shmoopsy" and owns several warehouses full of merchandise.
- While most Irkens can survive ten minutes without their PAK, Ex-Tallest Spork would expire in a matter of moments if ever disengaged from his medical gantry.
- Spork's decrepit condition is a direct result of the Control Brains' influence, who kept his continued existence secret and had him fitted with outdated medical technology to keep him under quarantine.
- The Recap Kid is a pan-dimensional being that theoretically exists throughout every Zim universe. The Recap Kid is, was and always will be.
Trivia:
•The previous Tallest, as well as the Infinite Energy Absorbing Blob are concepts derived from the unproduced episode: "The Trial"
•My take on Membrane's wife was inspired by a similar development in S.N.A.F.U. Comics' "Invader Zim: Manifest Doom."
•I like to imagine Billy West as a possible voice for Virooz, as he portrayed Zim in the original pilot.
•The Gir key chain in Recap Kid's bag was inspired by a similar product that belonged to a childhood friend of mine.
•This is my first time drawing Recap Kid.

Honestly, the Recap Kid is not a bad idea if the show were to ever come back/reboot. With how popular Invade Zim is, he could be like a 4th wall running joke on the show. Kind of like a connection between the audience and the show.
Why do I have a crazy suspicion that Mimi Membrane is not who she says she is?
Spork looks amazing! And I could totally see him as some kind of adversary for Zim and maybe even the Tallest.

Thanks for the feedback! I agree with you about Recap Kid. Having a character out of focus could benefit a multi-part story.
I've always wondered about the previous rulers of the Irken Empire. Between concept art and episode script, we have a very limited view of who they were and how they operated. And while collective fanon lends a lot to my work, I wanted to make these characters stand out while retaining a place in the setting: One is a scholar who shed their identity to make a new life for themselves, the other a decrepit militant adrift in a sea of self-delusion. Both are "lost," but neither are truly gone.
Anyway, thanks again for the favs! ^^"

These are some really great ideas to expand on the Zim universe! Especially the pandimensional idea with Recap Kid. Also, I think your the first artist ever draw fanart of Virooz.

Thanks for the feedback! I really like the idea of Recap Kid just sort of being everywhere at once, like a rabid fan who knows every possible outcome of every story- including the ones that might or might not happen. It's a burden, yes, but such is the truth of their existence.
By the way: I just updated this file with a mess of new design notes. Let me know what you think!

Very neat additions. I like the idea of the different custom Paks for Spork and Virooz.

I'm glad you appreciate them. PAKs are an iconic aspect of Irken design, but there's still so much we can learn about them: How are they made? What if we were to strip one down to its bare components? What would it look like...? Spork and to some extent Virooz gave me a chance to explore those possibilities, and I couldn't let it go to waste.
Control Brains helped immensely with the design process; I like to think they share a similar construction.

Interesting, I'll have to consider applying The Control Brains and other Irken tech designs into some of my ideas.
