Parallel universes you believe ?

Oh that old idea?, not really but it is what I'd call an interesting thought experiment - There was a science book I read years back called "The Science in Science Fiction" by Peter Nicholls a big writer and editor of Sci-fi.Β
The book examines the practical science inspiring sci-fi and points out what's untrue, unlikely and just plain bullshit*.Β The book also described a thought experiment to explain the theory behind Parallel Universes based on Schrodinger's Cat theory, there was also an American Physicist called Hugh Everett III who did coin the term Parallel Universes while working on Quantum Physics.
I'd recommend reading the book, but be prepared for disappointments - we probably won't have Jet rocket packs, Super Death Rays or Force-Fields like in star warsΒ
*Space definitely won't be like the Flash Gordon movies
