Description There is a part before this one, but this one is finished so I wanted to go ahead and submit it - it's also a follow up to spottedshine 's comic, "the plan is simple," which I recommend reading before this!

He hadn't been to Tranquility's farm in a while. He was busy, raising a wyngling whose egg he had found, a kit that looked surprisingly like him. He wanted to come back to introduce the kit to his sibling, Blair, Narga's oldest kit, and Tran and the rest of the family. But he had specifically sought out Blair first, letting Noche wait in the woods where he was most comfortable for Narga to bring the family to him.

When he found Blair in the rattle cow pen, he was struck with an uneasy feeling before he could even approach them - something seemed off. Then he realized, as he got closer, that it seemed like Blair had been crying; the scent of sadness and anger hung heavy in the air.

"Blair?" His soft tone, voice raspy with disuse, seemed to startle Blair as they looked up at him. They relaxed for a moment before their shoulders began to shake, and they bit their lip as fresh tears sprung from their eyes. "Blair, Blair...." Narga hurried to Blair's side, careful of the things they called "pets," and nuzzled his cheek against theirs in a comforting gesture. "Blair, tell Narga, tell wrong."

They raised their arms to give Narga a hug, clinging to him for a moment before pushing him back so they would have room to sign. They explained the situation - how they were planning to move to a new settlement with a small group of people, what Tran had said when she found out, how Tran's words had affected them.

"... Go see Tranq... Tran-quh-wi- Tran. I go." That was all Narga said before taking off towards the house.

Tranquility wasn't there, one of her children told him when he arrived. Out looking for Blair or something. He snorted in frustration, remembering that Noche was waiting for him in the forest, and decided to retire for the night.

He was back the next day, though, approaching the farm sometime before noon. If he remembered the farm's rhythm correctly, Tran would be checking on the rattle cows and doing some milking or letting them out of the barn around this time.

Sure enough, she was there. He saw her from the woods, between the branches, and an angry growl rose out of his throat as he remembered what Blair had said. He stalked through the brush, closer and closer, not realizing how loudly his growl was projecting or how his glands glowed orange. He did, however, notice the way that Tran froze. She shuddered then turned slowly, only relaxing a little when she saw that it was Narga.

"Narga, it's been a while. What... what's wrong?"

"You," Narga snapped, stalking closer to her, his tail twitching angrily. "You hurt Blair. You say they bad! You tell Blair, they not strong - they not good enough for own self. They not ready to be away." He raised one paw to poke a claw angrily at her chest. "Blair no more kit. Blair know take care of them. You say they not speak makes bad. I bad, too? I not speak right, I not good?" He was bristling visibly, especially the spines on his tail and the fur around his neck. He didn't think he'd ever been this enraged in his life. He cut her off when she started to speak, not willing to let her butt in when he was, for once, wanting to talk plainly and make a point - he wasn't going to be ignored like Tranquility had been ignoring Blair. "No voice does not mean no talk. Tran... Tranqu... Tranquility choose not listening! I hear Blair! Other kits hear Blair! Why you not? Blair is good!"

He forced his fur and quills to lie a little flatter, though he couldn't fully control it, because he was still angry. Tranquility seemed stunned into silence - this was the most he had ever said, and though he struggled finding the right words, he felt that he had made himself clear.

Then, Tranquility's expression turned sour, her brows furrowing and mouth turning down. "... Narga, you couldn't survive in the middle of town even if you wanted to. You don't know anything about any of this - Blair needs to stay here! They shouldn't be going out on their own like this, they can't even call for help if they're in trou-!"

Tranquility was cut off by a loud roar, startling the nearby rattle cows, who made a run for the other side of the pen. Narga huffed when he was done, glaring at her angrily. "No learn. You no learn! I - I go with Blair. No! No, no, no look at me with that face - not like you. Not to protect. To stay with Blair. Blair protect themself. I go because I love Blair. I go because I cannot stay more. You... you not good anymore. You not good for Blair, not good for me. You think we bad. We will be good, together. My kit is good. Nothing wrong with my kit."

The purple gro looked angrier and angrier as Narga kept speaking, but he didn't care. He couldn't give a single flying fuck about what she wanted to say. If she was going to silence Blair, then he would act like he heard nothing from her. He vanished into the forest as quickly as he had arrived, his dark coat blending into the shadows, and returned to Noche. Now he only had to wait to seek out Blair and tell them his decision - that he would go where they went.
