Description
I went to a formal wedding on New Year's eve. I was waiting in line for a drink at the reception with my camera down at my side, when this mime came over, stuck his face in front of the lens and i snapped a pic, while the cam was still near my knee. He was so impressed at my "sieze the moment" attitude (and he liked the pic), he wanted to do head shots as well as other conceptual ideas with me.Many ideas flew to mind, but i really wanted to capture a Beckettian sense of emptiness and lonliness....as i become more into the art thing, i seem to slip into this void often and without avail...and it is I that cannot use words to speak of this solitude.

Very lonely.. His expression is brilliant, it screams personal anguish and sadness. Which is nice, because the clichΓ© image of pantomime-artists is that they smile a lot (or all the time) and do funny acts; this contradicts that. This is more subtle than if you had used, say, a clown, which might have served the same purpose but would have been too obvious.
This structure or building is really marvelous too, it seems to be so enormous.. Which of course amplifies the feeling of loneliness.
It really reminds me of the architecture of a city called Vivec in the epic rpg 'Morrowind'.. The high walls, the rich stone/sepia colour.. I have a perfect screenshot, but it's not in the internet.
What I'm trying to say is that I love this shot; congratulations, you must have felt wonderful taking and looking at this.
And what a wonderful story! And an artistic/friendly mime.

I'm going to follow the trend and this. It is awesome and needs to be made a print. Well done indeed. I don;t think i need to explain why it's so good. i think you already know.

So beautiful and sad. Or melancholy? Or bittersweet? I'm not sure, but it's excellent.

such a nice picture.... i totally feel what he feels what you feel sometimes... i hate being or feeling alone... a lot of artists and photographers have this eye for seeing what the "normal" person cannot see and i think that the draw back is some of their soul or energy is taken in order to capture the moments and the feelings that this world has to offer
sucks to hear you feeling this way, in a manner of speaking you're really not alone (probably won't make you feel better, just an observation)

it's gorgeous it really is, i see you're using the s@ as well - Good Job
i find it very hard to get the tones and colours i want with that camera,
when it comes to skin tones anyway.
well take care
oh and thank you - i was looking for a new favorite

actually the s2 pro is known for its skin tones....most pros agree it is better than the d100 straight outta cam. maybe those that disagree are not properly white balancing.
