People have asked me why I don't do too many self-portraits anymore...there are alot of reasons. And they ask me why the ones that I have always cover part of my face....this, i guess is a security blanket.
So in order to break from the norm, here is a exposing self-portrait...no fancy clothes, makeup or props to hide behind...just me...flaws and all.

Reminds me of the first time I ever fell in love. Your expression there... soft, pure, not necessarily innocent, but very pure, even with flaws. Her name was Cynthia. Wow.

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and clearly, physically, i dont see any flaws. Inner beauty is what's important. Plus you got mad skills and talent in photography. You're perfect in my eyes.

I'm having a hard time seeing exactly how you are "flawed"... You look quite beautiful, and have wonderful art. Keep up the killer work! Just a random thought, but "flaws" are not really flaws at all, to be different, or to deviate from what is commonly accepted is not a flaw. It's a part of who we are. When it all boils down to it the only one who can get you anywhere in life is you, so really it should be only your opinion that matters. Don't let the expectations or cursory judgements of others sway your mind, because they can never truly know you they way you will know yourself. Be happy with who you are, to hell with anyone else. Anyways, beautiful art, I look forward to seeing more of your works in the future.

I really like the color of the water and the way that the skin tone sort of disappeares accentuating the features.

Deary, I love your work very much.Its amazing and (if this doesn't sound too cheesy) you inspire me;in a pose or setting,something will click and I'll get a clear image of a shot I've been struggling with.So I'm just going to say this......You have no freaking flaws!!!Are you insane?!YOu're beautiful.YOu have big eyes,which are either blue or green I bet,great lips and amazing skin.Plus youre thin.Its not exactly fun being a big girl,especially when you know that even if you could lose 20 pounds,you'd still be the same size.I don't know,maybe you look completely different in real life.....but don't say flaws.Say nature.

I love the photo.....you have such a mature look in your eyes and yet there is an innocent feeling about the whole picture. Like you should feel dirty because you looked at it.

I (like the rest of the people that I read) dont see any flaws either. This is a great photo. I am a big fan of the natural look. Good Job, I know it is hard to come out of your comfort zone. Many cudos (sp?) for doing so.

Are you familiar with the dutch painter Vermeer (1700's) work called The Girl With The Pearl Earring. The looking over the shoulder, the large luminious eyes, the soft innocence of the face and the oval shape of your face bears a very similar resemblance to the girl in that painting [link] If you had your lips slightly parted the look would be the same. It has been said of the painting that many wonder what she is thinking and looking at with the over the shoulder look...you have that same expression that leads people to wonder what the subject is thinking.

wow...i am sooooo suprised that you brought this up. i have wanted to do a self-portrait remake of that painting for some time now. it is too difficult to light and style by myself though.

It is so odd, somehow I can not see this as a self portrait... the expression on your face does not reveal, as most self portraits do, a certain pretense... I can not explain it.

its eyes... they show us for who we are, and yet, people still steriotype... people still judge. People will comment on this just to be in your good graces, and although they may be overdramatic... i thin one thing can be said completly honestly. Flaws or no flaws... a flaw is a beautiful as perfection... a flaw is what makes us inique... i am not saying anything that has not been said before in history... but what i am trying to say is, you are beautiful... not because i say you are, but because you have a brilliant talent, a mind that i respect... you always seem so level... and those things are bigger than looks, portraits, or even flaws.

Without our flaws, those things that make us look different from one another, we would all be copies, drones, and there would be nothing to focus love on. Every irregularity is a beauty mark, every imperfection defining to someone else what is exactly and perfectly you.
As they provide interest and focal points of individual perfection, flaws are essential to a world worth living in.
Or I'm just wierd like that.
