People have asked me why I don't do too many self-portraits anymore...there are alot of reasons. And they ask me why the ones that I have always cover part of my face....this, i guess is a security blanket.
So in order to break from the norm, here is a exposing self-portrait...no fancy clothes, makeup or props to hide behind...just me...flaws and all.

that is absolutely gorgeous.... and true very exposing for a self portrait - I just began attempting this style and someone asked me why I close my eyes - I just feel exposed when I do.. hmm dunno if ill get much past that tho... i really admire your work, i have learned the hard way - self portraits are extremely challenging!

there is hint of lipgloss
and a smoky eyeshadow
and mascara
but the face is lovely
and as naked as the body
and it's a really nice portrait.
smallish and almost childlike
in its innocent appeal.

Well, "Flaws? What flaws?" has clearly been well-represent above, so something more clever is called for now...
It's those eyes, in tandem with the title, that really make the shot. Because those are NOT the eyes of confidence, cockiness, or bravado. Rather, those are eyes of doubt, uncertainty, a big yawning moment of just putting yourself out there and hoping you don't get shot down.
They are, on one hand, seductive, but as much for their humanity as expression. They are, on another hand, fearful that the seduction might fail. They are bold but not brazen. (Something about your presence in water REALLY seems to richen the circumstance, but I can't put it into words yet.)
And in the doubt expressed there, the human condition of vulnerability, the title for the piece is perfect. Because flaws on the surface are the least important of all, but the flaws that we share inside are certainly the ones that bind us.

You have great big eyes! They are marvelous! I would love to see them in color. I love the setting. Putting yourself in such a private place and then showing the world is a bold statment but you pulled it of quite nicely. Self portraits are really hard to do well but I you definatly got the hang of it.

Flaws. What are people...as a whole, without their flaws? Nothing...sameness. Seeing a flaw in oneslef is discovering opportunity in a sense. It presents a goal or an obsticle to push past. Something in your character that needs growth.
A physical flaw? Without them we'd all be perfect. Again...sameness. That extreme beauty would become plain and boring. Our flaws make us unique. If you are judged or called names by someone because you have a physical "flaw" ...take it with a grain of salt...it's hard and words do cut like razors. But realize that the people who do these things have a flaw, a character flaw a moral flaw. I believe that what is inside you, that is beauty and if you have a rotten soul... no amount "beauty" will make you a good person.
Flaws. I wish we didn't care about appearances. But we do. I'm not innocent..no one is in my opinion.
Our insecurities can overtake our hearts..I obviously have my own issues to deal with, judging from this needlessly long comment....
I really dig the shot...I love your flaws. Without them I'd see a face just like any other face. But I don't. I see your face.

Beautiful eyes! Certainly nothing to worry about, but I hear you. I don't like showing my face in most of my imagery. Too open or honest, or something. But this is a beautiful image, don't be ashamed.
