Description
A boy bursting with delight in the Mekong Delta area of Vietnam...he danced around me and played me with his eyes one afternoon. I showed him the pic after I took it on the digicam and he flushed with wonder and excitement.As a child, when people asked me what would be the perfect job, I would reply without hesitation..."to be a photojournalist for National Geographic". This I said without ever having taken a picture. Why would I respond this way then? First, I think showing the world cultural differences allows people to appreciate them more fully. Secondly, and possibly more important, I think showing people similarities of people across the globe opens their eyes to the fact that we all have fear, hope, dreams and the desire for security and love.
Nothing captures this concept more than the smile of a child.

The innocence of a child! You were really able to capture that here. I also like the composition - I like how his body is centered in the photograph and that he is sitting at the rightmost position of the bench and the rest of the bench extends out of the frame of the photo instead of the full bench being in view. Phew, that was long winded and it doesn't sound quite as nice as what I had in my head! Suffice to say that I think this is a very beautiful photograph!

I love this one! It captures his happiness so purely. And the part that amazes me the most is that many of the children in Vietnam are like this. They have almost nothing, but they're still so happy. Always smiling. We should all learn from that.

Another of the best things about being a kid is the ability to smile honestly, without any thoughts of doublecrossing you... To smile and to keep his(her) dreams intact... In one piece.
Which are his dreams?
I do not know... but he who has no dreams be prepared to have an owner.
The last phrase sounds better in spanish because it rhymes: El que no tiene sueΓ±os prepΓ‘rese para tener dueΓ±os.
