Here's something a little different. I'm doing a Multiple part tutorial called CLOBBERING TIME: THING TUTORIAL for my Lab Tech board on Penciljack. It's a brief tutorial containing visual images and notes done for the sole purpose of helping artists who struggle with drawing Ben Grimm do a better job. To get the full benefit of my comments though you should check out my Penciljack thread here: [link]I thought some of you Deviants might likewise enjoy and benefit from this tutorial so I've decided to post Part 1. If you think this tutorial was beneficial, I ask that you please fave it to let me know. Naturally comments are always welcome to. This will let me know if this sort of thing is something you guys are interested in seeing or not. If the faves are high, I'll be happy to post more of the parts.

Okay. I know you saw part 1.2 earlier. I'm glad that reloading the image helped. Part 1.3 will consist of a step-by-step of drawing the Thing's head at a 3/4 view, which has given some artists some difficulty, I've been told.

I have seen those years ago. I'm not going to follow that tutorial though. This one is based solely on my own observations and experiences familiarizing myself with and drawing the character over the years.

For a lot of folks, he seems to be tough. I've concentrated on doing a classic and traditional Thing, going back to the roots of the character as to what makes Ben unique and different from other characters. With 48 years of history of being distinct and unique amongst superheroes, Ben has plenty of aspects to focus on. I'll try to shine the light on some of the things that make him familiar and different.
