I wasn't going to be using this bot anymore, but it seemed to fit quite well for this idea. And it's letting the butterfly go by the way (not trying to catch it)

Looks great. The 3D is very good, highly detailed and good lighting, I the colour and composition are both very good, and the bot is as always quite expressive.
My only crit would be the spotlight. It seems to be coming from nowhere, it looks quite 3D to me because of the way it appears to exist without cause. If you created a bit of a sunken hole in the ceiling the light would probably appear more purposeful.

Don't quite follow ya... about the spotlight coming from nowhere. There's a hole in the roof letting light from a strong light source shine through... creating a kind of volumetric spotlight effect. It has purpose as an opening that the butterfly is wanting to fly through.
But as usual.. I appreciate you comment.

Sorry to be ambigious. What I mean is that the hole in the roof isn't visible to me.
To my eyes it looks like just a flat surface generating light for no reason. I think if it (the light) was a bit less volumetric, and more transparent the hole would be more visible.

I really like the way you expressed the meaning. the work is very neat and has a good amount of detail. I like the environment a lot and that robot... aww he is so cute. It was a great idea to use the butterfly and add a meaning to the whole thing. I am loving it. btw the title Espirit Libre ... what does it exactly mean? I don get the libre word

I'm starting to get tired of the ol robot vs nature theme but this is indeed a pretty nice pic.
Don't get me wrong, this particular theme has a great potential and is capable of many deep meanings, but I've seen it too many times.
Anyways, well rendered, cool desing for the robot, yet I personnaly would've made him less stiff.. maybe a torsion on the torso, or arms positionned differently? anything to give him an asymetrical look.

i love it... the robot and butterfly have such great detail in them...
great, rich color usage there, too, and i love the reflection there.. very realistic.
i like the idea of the robot letting the butterfly go, like it has a loving heart or something..
reminds me of I, Robot lol (though this would be the opposite
