Description
Here is the small elephant that lived a while ago. The remains of these pachyderms have been found on various islands in the Mediterranean and Indonesia. They were different species of these types of animals but adapted to island life by evolving to a smaller size. probosidians including mammoths shrink when isolated on islands. even most other kinds of animals do the same

yeah. all elephants living on islands shrink over time. thats called Island Dwarfism

How did these dwarf elephants become extinct then? human settlers or natural events?

The articles I read implied that humans were responsible for extinction of the Mediterranean dwarf elephants around 11,000 BCE. However, that was also around the end of the last glacial period, so climate change may have played a part as well.
