Mammuthus subplanifrons, la especie más antigua de mamut conocida hasta la fecha, la cual data del Plioceno africano hace 5 millones de años encontrada tanto en Etiopía como Sudáfrica, con un tamaño máximo de 3,68 metros de alto a la cruz y un peso de 9 toneladas. No se conocen muchos ejemplares de esta especie, esperemos que en futuro se realicen más hallazgos.

Mammuthus subplanifrons, the oldest mammoth species known to date, dating from the African Pliocene 5 million years ago found in both Ethiopia and South Africa, with a maximum size of 3.68 meters high at the withers and a weight of 9 tons. Not many specimens of this species are known, hopefully more discoveries will be made in the future.
