Ilustración de un gran mamut columbino macho (Mammuthus columbi), inspirada en los recientes hallazgos cerca del futuro Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Ángeles, en el Estado de México, México, donde se han recuperado más de 600 ejemplares (desde fragmentarios hasta unos muy completos) de esta especie, junto a muchísimos otros animales de la edad de hielo, desde bisontes hasta caballos, camélidos, perezosos, etc., lugar donde además se abrió recientemente un museo llamado Quinametzin: tierra de gigantes (Quinametzin significa gigante en Náhuatl, el idioma de los mexicas o aztecas) con un taller de investigación paleontológica, donde se estudiarán los restos de estos enormes proboscídeos.
