Description
It isn't all shows and glamour at Havillands, here's Jenny Stigley- stable manager- grooming her horse Coral Court. Jenny is quite particular about Coral's appearance, she likes to be well dressed herself. It occurred to me that I am always drawing my characters competing and not actually doing all the mundane ordinary things that really do happen for 70% of the time where ever there are horses.
Jenny has a pretty ancient looking curry comb there, Havillands don't have a lot of up to date kit, they tend to use what they already have. Their policy of 'Make Do And Mend' means that they always look a bit behind the times.
Drawn on cartridge paper with a propelling pencil.
Inked with India ink pens
Coloured with assorted coloured pencils.

Exactly, Havillands is usually a noisy chaotic place.

Probably because Gareth and Khi are busy being noisy, silly and argumentative somewhere else.

It was Mersea Island in Essex, not beautiful but very quiet, until Monsoon grade rain came down at about 3 pm and then we decided to go home!

Oh no! Well, you are very lucky to live in England year after year. All my family live over there, and my parents were first "immigrants" to America. I am the second of all my family to be born in the USA, my older brother being the first. It is blazing hot and dreadfully uncomfortable over here.

I count my self very lucky to live in England, I love it here, (except perhaps the incessant rain at some times of year) You get a bit of everything weather wise. I'd be a very confused Brit if it was the same temperature all year round.

You hit the nail on the head. I visited family last summer holidays and when we arrived it was pouring with rain and about 40F! We did receive a warm welcome from an old black cat though, which was nice.

A lucky black cat! Mine doesn't count as she has a white bib and paws.

I love the metal curry combs. And nice to see a normal 'mundane' activity going on.

I have to be out of date, I last went riding nearly 10 years ago and everything has moved on, I don't know what the current riding/ horse care kit looks like so I'm kind of stuck in the past.

haha well metal curry combs are still current. I have one in my grooming kit, and you can still buy them. They're the most effective for removing hair from other brushes, but the plastic and rubber versions are fab for getting all that lovely winter mud off the horse!

I have a sort of rubbery thing for getting dead hair off my cat when he is moulting, he loves it and demands to be brushed every time I go in the garden (I groom him standing on top of the wheelie bin, it is just the right height- the cat stands on the bin, I don't!)

When I try to upload it, the colors always became more pale and no more beautiful

I had that problem, I had to use the 'autofix' option in Photoshop to correct the colour.
