Description
A huge storm struck, and I saw this poor little bird sitting there soaking wet and shivering. At first, I thought it was dead, then it moved, and I gently picked it up.I brought it inside and gently held it against my chest until it was warm (Between my boobs and my hand) - it finally stopped shivering. I got a soft cloth and started to dry off its feathers - once it was feeling better I put it in a small container, with holes in the top with a towel and a little food to wait out the storm.
The little sparrow dried off nicely, and the storm is past and it is nice and warm outside.
Know what's really adorable? The little Sparrow sat on my finger for a minute or so, looking at me, before it cheeped, spread its wings, and flew away. ^.^
I think I saved its life, if I'd left it there on the sidewalk shaking and soaked, it would have died.
Isn't it the cutest little bird? x3
( says it's a housefinch but I'm too lazy to edit the whole paragraph xD)

Haha cuuute! Me, I don't care of it's a "pest" or not - it's still a living thing. For that reason I refuse to use mouse traps (Only humane ones) and don't even kill insects.. I always catch them and let them go outside. ^^ I won't kill anything, no matter how small (Unless it's suffering really bad and not going to survive, then I put it out of its misery)

I remember when a mouse was running around my house; my pop wanted to catch it with a mousetrap; but I caught it in my bin XD
It was in my TV cabinet thing, so I put the round bin on the floor sideways, made a noise behind the mouse and bang; it was all good and he went back outside :3

But you did good! Not everyone would have seen that bird and taken it in during a storm! You gotta a big heart, Artha~

Mine had been a baby when I found him. He'd fallen from his nest and I took him inside my house and played mommy. He would hang out on my finger and crawl up on my shoulder and nip at my hair. But like any good mommy, I had to eventually let him go. ;_; I miss him...

I almost missed her too (I think she was a female house finch) I thought she was leaves on the ground, but the shape was birdlike... then I took a closer look and realized it WAS a bird, but I wasn't sure if it was alive or not till it moved...
That was when I picked her up and brought her inside ^^

xD I figured it was the best place to get her warmed up. And my body temperature would slowly warm her up - and avoid putting her in shock. ^^
She is a female housefinch, I looked up pictures - I wonder if she was a mother.. I wonder if I saved her babies too...

Pandars In reply to lover-of-the-Drow [2011-06-09 04:09:19 +0000 UTC]
Well that was a genius idea!
She's so cute! We have a ton of those flying around where I live, I think. And seeing as a lot of other birds are nesting at this time, and she was a female, I bet you she was a mother. It's good you saved her, that would've been a whole lot of dead birdies

lover-of-the-Drow In reply to Pandars [2011-06-09 04:19:00 +0000 UTC]
That's what I was thinking, she probably wanted to get back to her babies, and she probably knew, somehow, that I saved her life.
There's a bed time story for a bird to tell her babies as she puts them to bed for the night xD
