Description
A huge storm struck, and I saw this poor little bird sitting there soaking wet and shivering. At first, I thought it was dead, then it moved, and I gently picked it up.I brought it inside and gently held it against my chest until it was warm (Between my boobs and my hand) - it finally stopped shivering. I got a soft cloth and started to dry off its feathers - once it was feeling better I put it in a small container, with holes in the top with a towel and a little food to wait out the storm.
The little sparrow dried off nicely, and the storm is past and it is nice and warm outside.
Know what's really adorable? The little Sparrow sat on my finger for a minute or so, looking at me, before it cheeped, spread its wings, and flew away. ^.^
I think I saved its life, if I'd left it there on the sidewalk shaking and soaked, it would have died.
Isn't it the cutest little bird? x3
( says it's a housefinch but I'm too lazy to edit the whole paragraph xD)

Definately, because she acknowledged you before she flew!
Also a lesson for them to not get caught in the rain XD

I wish I had brought my camera out, but I thought the bird was going to just fly away, I was not expecting it to just sit there for a while... that was just so adorable x3

I don't believe in God - but I do honestly believe the bird said "Thank you" when it cheeped at me ^^ I thought it'd fly away instantly, but it just sat there on my finger for probably a good minute or so.

That's what I thought! I felt so bad for it seeing it shaking and cold and wet - My boyfriend thought I was crazy for bringing it in - he was saying "It's dead, its as good as dead..."
But I could tell it was just cold, wet, and scared, probably dazed too,

Awh the poor thing I can only imagine the adorable photo that could have been captured when it was sitting on your finger though! What a wonderful moment, I would be so proud of you if I was him for helping the bird, not tell you that's it's as good as dead D:

Yeah it really does feel good ^^
I wasn't sure if it was going to survive - but my thought is, if I didn't help it, it was going to die, If I did help it, there was a chance I could save it. And I DID save it ^^

Exactly, I would have done the exact same thing! And it's even better that the bird showed that it appreciated it, even if it only stuck around for that extra moment or two, its still enough to really show you it appreciated it

If true,.. then I am sure he/she was showing gratitude. Even for a big 6ft 1 tall guy like me, that's so sweet. sweet also from you for taking care of it - and for it waiting a while before chirped, spread its wings and flew away.... a very heartwarming story.
Definately reaffirms my faith in humanity.

It's completely true that it did that. It was really, really cute, I about melted. I was afraid I was reading too much into it, but I think the little bird was telling me "Thank you!"
Because I am SURE it would have died if I'd just left it there shaking and soaking in the rain on the sidewalk.
My boyfriend was saying "Oh its going to die, that's a dead bird"
But I could recognize cold and shock, it wasn't injured, no broken bones (Gently felt it over with a finger)And it appeared healthy other then getting so wet and cold.

I know there are MILLIONS of starlings in the world, but that little one had feelings like you or I - so what you did was exceptionally compassionate and selfless; you totally have my respect and admiration for what you did. You should take what you did, tell others proudly about it and take it to your grave when you're an old woman. Tell your grandchildren, their kids, their friends and just know that amongst all the madness in this world YOU helped create a little ocean of sanity, compassion and caring - enough for one little bird, and enough to last many life-times too. As a fellow human being; I'm SO proud of you. You have made my year!
Smile - you're a FANTASTIC person.

Yeah so true! Even if there are many many many of that animal each individual is a different life ^^
It kinda reminds me of a story about a person throwing starfish back into the water, but there were so many there was no way they could get them all back.
Somebody walks past and says "Why are you throwing them back? There's so many that you can't make a difference"
And the person picks one up and throws it back into the water and says "I made a difference for that one!"
I always loved that story ^^
Thanks ^.^

Yeah they do that sometimes, being kept in a small cage scares them, and depresses them - that's why I only kept that one until it was dry and I was sure it'd be allright. ^^

If the little sparrow/finch I had saved had died, I would have been sad, but I would have known I tried.
I'm just glad the little bird is dry, alive, and free. ^^
