Description
This is another element from the commission. It is a drow female (though, uncolored it can be any kind of elf, I guess, though one that likes to dress naughty). It is part of a larger 3 person commission that I am working on, I just wanted to show this Work In Progress.

The outfit (and kinda the stance) remind me of Bloodrayne.

I can see that. I wasn't thinking about her when I drew the character, though.

This is a pretty unusual way of look! And I like it very much! Good and original piece!

Thanks! I had a lot of fun doing it. The client sent me some sketches, and I just tried to make it look as cool as possible.

Since they're your characters, you can upload them to your gallery so long as you write in the comment field that they are commissions done by me, and put links back to my gallery (or galleries), and say "posted with permission of the artist" so nobody gives you a hard time about having art in your gallery that's not yours, or accuses you of stealing art.

I just might do that. I will definitely link it back to you. No one would believe I did something that good anyway.

Well, keep practicing. I have 15 years of experience over you (now I feel old, thanks). That's not too far from where I was at 19, so don't quit. And go to a good art school if you can - I waited until I was 23 or 24 to go, and wish I had gone sooner. Each day I learned what might have taken months to learn on my own. Sure, I could have taught myself, but it would have taken longer.

i took several art classes in high school, and they were piss poor to say the east. I'm at a community college now just trying to get done with basics. My goal is to get into a cinematography program somewhere.
I've been doing Art as a hobby for years, and I make heavy use of art book (anatomy for artists, and so forth) and they've been helpful.
My ultimate goal is to be able to write and direct my own stuff (like Frank Miller & Niel Marshall) using my drawings now as a basis for the art department.
That is one reason why I am so excited about what you're doing now. I think of it like foreshadowing what could one day become of my characters.

Go to Amazon and do a search for "Strength Training Anatomy" and "Women's Strength Training Anatomy." Those two books, and the others in the series (Stretching Anatomy, Yoga Anatomy, etc) are AWESOME!!! I just got them about a year ago and wish I had had them 15 years ago. And they're CHEAP! Get them, study them, and you'll see your art improve quickly. Most anatomy books just have a person standing there or maybe holding an arm out. This book has active people, doing active things, from many angles, and it shows you how the muscles look in those poses. Awesome.

I will most certainly do that. do you think a store would carry that as well, or is shopping online my best bet?

A store would be about $5-7 more expensive per book. I LOVE Amazon. They're quick and I save so much money buying from them. Although I got some at Costco for pretty cheap, but I haven't seen them there for awhile.

i just found them on Books-a-million's website and they had one for $13 and change. B-A-M is the only bookstore around and It's really close to me.

i imagine so. I was going to swing by there today for the new Joker graphic novel, and I'll see what else they have in-stock while I'm there.
