Description I have recently undertaken a big redesign project.
A refit of scfi warships Jupiter Battleship

Here is the list of 15 redesign improvements:-

1.   The main gun turrets have been modified and new barrels have been added, they are now set in a horizontal position to hold the ships line.
2.   The original secondary guns have been replaced with quad ball guns.
3.   The original secondary laser pod phalanx has been replaced with ball rocket phalanx systems, modified from the quad ball guns above.
4.   The Nuclear silos have been greatly modified, the nukes are now exposed inside the tubes and total 74 (though not visible in this picture)
5.   All Antennas have been shortened and tweaked so they do not stand out and interfere with the ships line as the original did.
6.   A reactor Dome has been placed at the front in the center.
7.   Breaking thrusters (from the hull) have also been added to the front.
8.   All life pods have been removed for aesthetic reasons, they looked like the front of an old 75 Volkswagen Golf... yuk !
9.   The original name and registration has been removed, and the new Warspite name will be added on the next posting
10. NEW TEXTURE which covers the entire hull, and now has been correctly projected onto the hulll so that the pattern flows smoothly
11. The yellow coach lines on every deck is gone.
12. Window lights are now on
13. The original flat grey color is now a living blue grey.
14. The original Solar Battle Force is changed to the Earth Battle Fleet (EBF)
15. New name has been assigned EBF WARSPITE CLASS.

This is still a work in progress so more changes are coming.

Reminds me a bit of the Abominator class Offensive Unit from Iain M Banks' Culture novels. Only lower tech.

the center hub should have been a giant weapon of some sort, this looks brilliant as a whole, though!

Hey thanx for liking ! Yep tried the BFG but did not look good kinda like the machine gun on the old Tiger tank lol, so just went with the old Reactor thing instead .
More of my friends models coming to DA soon !

That's a lot of guns for sure. Love the fact that no matter from what angle the enemy might approach, several guns have it covered.

Yep this thing can sit in the middle of a war zone and comfortably pick of random targets from any angle without any worries ! surely "the ultimate scifi warship"
Seriously though, if you want i can help you with any questions about rendering etc

Yeah, I'd like to hear more about the Twilight program you mentioned... Is it any similar to Kerkythea?

Well like you i used Kerky and it was good but i was frustrated with all the fuss around setting up a simple render, i changed to Twilight because it is directly linked to SketchUp, this means that you can edit all background settings materials and lights while still in SketchUp, plus you do not have wait ten minuets for all the separate components etc to upload you just go straight into the render screen select the size of picture and style of render and press for action, also the render scene fills the entire screen.
The render quality is definitely an upgrade from Kerky and render time is faster (depending on how strong your computer is)
Twilight is simple and less fuss, it was designed to work right along side with SketchUp.
I also use a program called  Picasa 3  this allows me to manipulate the finished render by tweaking color and light ect, this helps to "fold the model" closer into the picture, it's free and great fun to use.

Whoa, that sounds superior to Kerkythea in every way. I'll have to try it.

This ship was originally designed to resemble a futuristic Zeppelin or a massive Hand Grenade that has been stretched.
I have always felt that the high angle of the gun turrets and the extra long antennas, have distracted the viewer from the true shape of the vessel.
From a distance the original Jupiter looks more like an alien Cactus or a strange sea creature rather than the Grenade or Zeppelin ship that was intended.
Now that i have corrected these issues you can now finally see the true format of this thunderous giant of war !

This picture is NOT intended to pull down Joachim, on the contrary it is a tribute, the Jupiter is an INCREDIBLE model with an ingenious new concept of space warfare, but this was made five years ago when we both got started in 3D ART
