Description
Software used: ApophysisI feel like screaming, I want to fly but something's holding me.
EDIT February 15, 2012: On the concept.
Many people find the concept dull or not very original.
It "just" expresses my current state of mind. I have autoimmune thyroid disease which affects my daily life.
I say I wish to fly but actually I want a lot less. I just want to be healthy and strong again.
So the shapes basically describe the longing to be free and the illness that holds me. Colors are mix of resignation and fierce anger.

Thank you I use Apophysis, it's sort of like Photoshop for fractal art, only instead of drawing with brushes I draw with mathematical functions

Thank you Keep on fractalling, it gets better. Beginnings are quite hard, but the results are totally worth it!
I've compiled a list of fractal tutorials that helped me when I was a beginner, so feel free to check it out if you're interested in:
Project Educate Fractal Week - Apophysis TutorialsAs you might have noticed, this week of Project Educate is dedicated to fractals.
In this news article, I would like to present tutorials for Apophysis and show you examples of fractals made with these resources.
I hope that this way I'll bring your attention to resources you've never tried to work with or (in case you are already familiar with these) show you a new possibilities of what can be created according to that particular tutorial.
There is not enough space to feature all the wonderful tutorials and I am forced to make a selection of just several of them. The key for selection is me being already familiar with them, thus recommending to you some of the tutorials that helped me a lot.

Stunning, I'm very drawn to this picture the colours and intricate patterns are truly lovely, well done <3
p.s. I saw above that you suffer an autoimmune disease, my daughter had two autoimmune problems crohn's and alopecia which she has successfully cured by diet and study. I think you may find her blog and videos helpful and up-lifting.

I admit I'm not familiar with the program you used but; I SERIOUSLY LOVE THIS O_O I wish it was a stained glass window in my home--I could stare at it all day *A* It seems like something beautiful is blossoming ad reminds me of flowers, life, and leaves 8 )
I'm sorry you have an auto immune disorder; I understand those are SUPER painful and I totally understand what you mean about wanting to be healthy again I personally had endometriosis, a condition that works a lot like cancer but isn't (Due to medical technicalities in what starts 'cancer' being the mitochondria in the cell, and endometriosis isn't caused by that, but this is where the difference begins and ends), which began when I was 11; They found it at 25 and refused to give me the surgery I needed--I was scared to get it, too. I was in so much pain I was looking at buying a wheel chair.
The reason why I didn't--was someone else I knew, already in a wheelchair, from an auto-immune condition. They, too, are in massive pain--but there's no surgery this person can take a risk on and have a chance at a life again; And I had a feeling if there was? They would take that risk.
I got the surgery; The odds were against me and my doctor didn't want to do it saying it wouldn't work.
It worked!
It's been two years and I'm still struggling to regain my footing; Trust me, you DO sort of feel like you're flying--or at least as if you're barely touching the ground! It's like learning to walk, or as if someone left gravity on 'extra low' wherever you are! You feel so light--but there's stumbles, too; I have to rebuild my leg muscles, which I'm still doing.
I dunno if surgery or treatment is an option for you; But I shared this with you to let you know--some of us here get it--in a way that people who have never been in that situation don't. My situation is over (Well--there's always a risk it can result, but so far, so good), but it was only because of persons like yourself that I had the courage to go through with it. Perhaps you aren't "meant" to be cured--but to be an inspiration to the rest of us who could be, but are allowing fear to hold us back. Seeing this, I feel like you're desperate to dance--and if there was a surgery, even with the smallest odds? You'd take those odds; Because you have nothing to lose 8O
Also, I thought this was original and unique, so, maybe it's just a lack of being familiar with this kind of art, but I think it's amazing--and so are you 8 )

Thank you for sharing your story with me, I hope that you will recover fully eventually, or as fully as possible in your situation. I agree that sometimes only people in similar situations can truly understand each other, so I really appreciate your comment

This is absolutely stunning. I love the stained glass look it has, combined with the flower/leaf patterns, the beautiful colors, and the shadows that make the colors pop. It is just gorgeous
