*Download for full view!*Finally..... Long overdue commission for Owlivia ! This is her Phoenix character, who I imagine in this epic pose after being reborn from the ashes, as phoenixes do.
This took forever, and this bird gave me so much hell. But I overcame--even after spilling an entire cup of paint water on it.... *facepalm* I don't know how long I actually spent on this but it felt like ages!
In the end, I think it turned out pretty good, and a fairly accurate representation of how I wanted it to come out. :3
I hope you like it Owlivia and I hope it was worth the wait!!!

Yes indeed! The commissioner indicated that her phoenix character had the general look of a bearded vulture. Such beautiful birds!

this is one of the most beautiful paintings I have ever seen... GOSH you made so much progress on it since I last saw ;3; just look at all that fantastic detail! and my gosh your skills with feathers are a force to be reckoned with! I envy your talents so muchhhh!! and all the gorgeous textures and colors, I think I may have to take a minute to stare at this. maybe more than a minute. MY GOSH I LOVE IT!! you do such incredible work *cry*

WELL.......okay, painting them might be okay, but drawing wings/feathers just right is like...... grraraghhghrhg.... so difficult for me. I must have re-drawn these wings like 3,857 times... Then finally it's like, F-it, it looks good enough. I'll pretty it up with some bright colors. xD Haha.

in the right situation you could. I also like your watermark. it's safer when you are so talented. Of course I secretly hate them but they are a necessary evil these days- I follow a deviant who recently got ripped.

it does the trick very well. I'd hate to see all your hard work be stolen. the video was awesome, when I saw you pull out the pastels I was like 'ah ha' . I will have to try to watch the deerz one when I can.

I've never tried the pastels thing before! I think next time I will spray with fixative before dusting on some pastels.... It didn't really do what I had hoped on this piece. I'll have to make further experiments with the pastel dust!

It was hard to see but I did notice a tonal difference in some areas, almost like a modest highlight.

I'm sure you didn't know what to expect but I thought it blended in well and set things softer in some areas. I never thought it was a hard edged painting to begin with but that really did blend, I watched that segment 3 times. (no, I'm not a froot loop)
