It's magic, they don't need to explain it

Of course XD

Screw physics! We dont need gravity!

Lol! Gravity is for sober b*tches.

Hahaha, nice one

Hydrochloric acid in the stomach, eat something that reacts with the chloride, store the hydrogen to float, burp it to breath fire.... although that would not explain how they can fly, just how they could float...
or
They manipulate the Earth's magnetic field in order to levitate, like Superman
or
A combination of the above two, using hydrogen to become lighter and using the magnetic field to levitate and steer
or
Magic. [link]

Also, I see you've met Fergus.

Lol, I don't know. Seeing as it's dragons, I like the idea of the magnetic field manipulation and magic. Seems relatively simple.

Fergus?

Also, if they could manipulate magnetism they might be able to use that to channel weather, like Storm from the X-Men. Ooh, maybe they don't actually fly, perhaps they use weather-channelling abilities to create up-draft that supports them in the air... although that would still beg the question of how they channel weather so precisely...

Yeah, let's go with magic.

Lol. Magic works.

Oh yeah! That guy! I went to his page and noticed you were his only watcher other than me. XD It's a small internet?

Not that much of a coincidence actually, he's a friend from Rooster Teeth who just made a D.A. page (he won't have anything much to post until Friday since he's busy this week but he writes, makes stuff, does some CGI) he joined up to Dragons' Rule Club and LOLdragons, you posted these pics in LOLdragons and he saw them there. Simples *meerkat noise*

They use magic...and stuff. It makes me a bit jealous that some dragons do not need to exercise and live with huge wings to fly.

Lucieniibi In reply to FoxboyPrower [2011-06-22 02:28:09 +0000 UTC]

Lol, yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Magic makes more sense than helium or something...

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 09:27:40 +0000 UTC]

or hydrogen -- that would allow for fire-breathing too, and would be a likely result of digestive processes rather than helium which is an inert gas.

Lucieniibi In reply to Ross-Sanger [2011-06-22 18:10:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but eastern dragons aren't known to breathe fire, and if they did use hydrogen to both breathe fire and fly then every time they DID breathe fire they would sink in the air, wouldn't they...?

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 18:17:16 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, good point, they are usually said to have weather-channelling abilities and associated more with water, although there are some fire element dragons, but hydrogen would still be a more likely gas for them to use than helium since it's something that could come from their diet/digestive processes.

That does make sense. *tries to think of any eastern dragons with wings she's ever seen anyways*

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 18:31:39 +0000 UTC]

I've only seen eastern dragons with wings in modern media, in ancient Chinese artwork they're always depicted as snakelike with scales like a reptile but with a mane of fur (or possibly feathers) and four taloned legs but no, I've never seen one with wings.

Lucieniibi In reply to Ross-Sanger [2011-06-22 19:02:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I figured as much. Oh well. An eastern dragon with wings is basically a furry wyvern anyways. XD

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 19:25:12 +0000 UTC]

But wyverns only have two legs...

Lucieniibi In reply to Ross-Sanger [2011-06-22 19:41:17 +0000 UTC]

Wyverns don't have to have any legs XD

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 19:52:26 +0000 UTC]

My point is that Asian dragons are four-legged.

Lucieniibi In reply to Ross-Sanger [2011-06-22 19:59:44 +0000 UTC]

They don't have to be. I've seen many without legs at all.

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 20:03:13 +0000 UTC]

Ah, but are they traditional ancient chinese dragon artwork? In Imperial China there were standards set for drawing dragons, even the number of claws on each foot had a meaning.

Ross-Sanger In reply to Lucieniibi [2011-06-22 20:29:44 +0000 UTC]

I can see some kind of... intermediate dragon having attributes of both western and eastern dragons though, perhaps a related species, perhaps a crossbreed if that's possible, or another evolutionary line.

Lucieniibi In reply to Ross-Sanger [2011-06-22 20:54:55 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! Crossbreeding always makes for fun drawings...

That is why all of the wise asian dragons had such high voices. No I doubt helium was involved.

Where would they get the helium?

or they burp hydrogen -- more likely and that would let them breath fire.
