Description
Made with deviantART muroI am a bit exited about the upcoming Batman: Arkham City, which is a sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum.
In celebration, I make a picture showing some of the worst inmates of Arkham Asylum.
The Scarecrow
Real Name: Johnathan Crane
Origin: Was a scientist fascinated with fear, to the point that he masqueraded as a scarecrow and used a fear toxin to get back at everyone who bullied him in school for his scrawny frame. He suffers a fear of bats, which is ironic, considering his greatest enemy dresses like one.
Two-Face
Real Name: Harvey Dent
Origin: Once a District Attorney, Harvey Dent went on the way of becoming Two-Face during the trial of Salvatore Maroni. Maroni threw acid in Dent's face, disfiguring one side of his face. Mentally scarred as well as physically, Dent took a two-headed silver dollar and scratched one side. He now flips his coin for every decision, using the unblemished side for good and the scarred side for evil.
The Joker
Real Name: Unknown(first name presumed to be Jack; has used the aliases Jack Napier, Joseph Kerr, and a variety of others)
Origin: While his story often varies, the most common version is that the Joker was once an ordinary criminal(in some versions known as the Red Hood) who fell into a vat of chemicals that turned his skin white, his hair green, and stretched his mouth into an eerie red-lipped grin. Driven insane by the accident, the Joker developed a lot of gag-themed weapons and a Joker Toxin that makes people laugh themselves to death and leaves their corpses grinning. He is known to be the archnemesis of Batman.
Bane
Real Name: Unknown
Origin: The illegitimate son of a blind, yet formidable criminal named King Snake, Bane ended up serving his father's lifetime prison sentence. Over the years, he grew tough and gave a serious beating to any prisoner that dared to mess with him. He was eventually submitted to a testing of a strength-increasing drug called Venom. After breaking out of jail, Bane sought to defeat Batman. While he has succeeded in breaking the Dark Knight's back once, Bane was subsequently defeated by an ally of Batman named Azrael. Recently, Bane has stopped using Venom, and eventually reformed and became an ally of Batman.
Mr. Freeze
Real Name: Dr. Victor Fries(last name pronounced Freeze)
Origin: Once a cryogenist, Victor Fries sought to find a way to cure his wife, keeping her frozen until he found a cure. Unfortunately, an accident caused Fries to be unable to survive in warm temperatures. He invented a suit to keep himself cold and a freeze ray to stop anyone in his way. Given his origin, Mr. Freeze is a truly tragic villain.
Clayface
Real Name: Basil Karlo
Origin: There have been several Clayfaces. The first Clayface was a former actor named Basil Karlo, who was upset that they were remaking one of his old films, The Terror. He sought to kill the cast and crew by disguising himself as the villain of the movie, Clayface. Batman, however, stopped his killing spree and he ended up in Arkham. The second Clayface was Matt Hagen, who became a shape-shifting mud creature after exposure to radioactive protoplasm. The third Clayface, Preston Payne, became a monster who melted whatever he touched after injecting himself with Hagen's blood. The fourth Clayface was Sondra Fuller, who was given her powers by the terrorist Kobra. Basil Karlo once teamed up with the other three Clayfaces, but it was a ruse to absorb their powers and become the Ultimate Clayface.
Killer Croc
Real Name: Waylon Jones
Origin: Waylon Jones was born with a skin condition that made him resemble a humanoid reptile. As he grew older, he sharpened his fingernails and teeth to make them resemble talons and fangs, effectively completing his reptilian appearance. Possessing superhuman strength and an insane mind, Croc is one of Batman's most dangerous enemies.
Gearhead
Real Name: Nathan Finch
Origin: A former kidnapper, Finch once fell into an icy river during a battle with Batman. His limbs were frozen solid, but he had them replaced with robotic limbs, turning him into an insane killer cyborg.
Now for a little sneak peek on Arkham City. After the events of Arkham City, Warden Quincy Shapr opens up a new plot in containing all of Gotham's criminals, now that Arkham Asylum and Blackgate Penitentiary are completely destroyed and unable to contain criminals. Sharp isolates all the criminals in a section of Gotham City dubbed Arkham City, where the criminals can do whatever they want, except for escaping.
Sharp does this mainly because he believes that while contained, the criminals will destroy each other. Batman is concerned for two reasons: Two-Face has captured Catwoman and lans to execute her, and the Dark Knight knows something is up!

You know, I more partial to the versions which are close to the comics than Christopher Nolan's or "The Batman" cartoons. I hated them and I don't care what most people think.

Well, that's three things we disagree on.
My introduction to Batman was the animated series from the 90's. I've never really seen ANY form of the Caped Crusader that I disliked(other than those annoying jokes about him being gay).
Don't feel worried. We're still friends...I hope.

I guessed that. BTAS was very faithful to the comics, with some acceptable material. When it comes to creative license, it only bugs me if it strays too much from the source material.
Good to hear you say that. You're one of my few regular viewers, and losing your praise would be truly devastating!
