SO I started out sketching some ugly old dragon and I was planning on using really earthy, muted greys and browns just to make it look ancient and awesome.

And what came out was a beatifully coloured Relk, a simply fascinating species from no other than who is my hero and all of her artwork is perfect. I purchased her Book of Mostly Creatures and it is absolutely fantastic and so fun to look through. I still flip through it and love every piece even though I bought it months ago. If you've never seen her work, or even heard of her, first of all, you live under a rock because she's basically famous, and second, I demand you to go see her artwork now.

I didn't really do a justice to how legitimate the Relk is, or any of her work, or her style, or anything. But it was worth a shot. And the colours were fun I absolutely love the colours she chose for the basic oceanic Relk.

Time Taken:
Pencil sketch: 10 minutes
Outline: 5 minutes
Colour (Flats): 5 minutes
Colour (Shading): 20 minutes
And hooray for 2 minute background x]
