Awww! Its been a long time since i drew my adorable butterfly boy! (In his first design, of course.) He always looks forward to Spring.
Winter is hard on his kind, any insect kind. And, real talk here, this winter was especially cold and especially rainy. Im in lower California--im right next to the desert; dry hot weather and year long droughts are my normal. So all this cold and rain and more cold and more rain, it just been driving me crazy! I feel like i havent seen the Sun for most of winter. Its gotten so cold that it actually hailed several times over the winter. Hail. It never hails here. In fact, the general reaction in my house was "what the funk is hail?"

So when i drew this up, the backdrop i used makes it look like a warm Spring morning, but the air is still pretty chilly, and so Saffron is still wearing his little winter wrap that his new found friends gave him so he wouldnt freeze; he's one of those au naturale characters, or as Zootopia put it, a naturalist. They made sure it had flowers on it to make it a tad more enjoyable for him. As i said, it was a gift for the winter weather, so the flowers on it are Christmas flower themed.

But with any luck, the Sun will start warming up the place and the ground, so that he can start growing beautiful flowers again. That happy expression he has, well, thats how I'll feel once we start getting warm, sunny weather again.

Happy Spring, everyone--even though it still feels very wintery over here. So much so that it hailed early this morning! The sound of it scared the crap out of me while i was sleeping! Ugh, im am so done with winter!
