Description
Thoughts: So, finally, a comic of Undertale.
For me, this is a learning experience. I am doubtful I will be able to update this at all regularly.
That aside, this is an earlier kingdom of Undertale, as is implied - Just as isolated and taking far more effort to traverse. There is one speaker in this comic who is not shown - he will show up later on. For now, Toriel is just leaving a presentation of interesting creations from her subjects - once in a while, a little show of talent and whimsy helps alleviate the weight of necessities and time... However, at the ending edge of that, borne on a bit of goodwill and mercy, is one particular book.
For those curious over the book: clearly it belongs to Gaster, a time before he was Royal Scientist. This was a journal he had given to a friend, and not lightly. It's primary topic is botanical notes, among other things - in this case outlining biomass of a cave rift, surface temperature, water level (including variances in salinity), topography, and harvested plant specimens (including various dates) ... And plenty of pasted-in notes referring to other volumes.
Notes: Undertale, Gaster, and Toriel are property of Toby Fox.
My thanks goes to R. Suffling and W. Smith, whose work I referenced to gather cues for Gaster's notebook, herein.
And to NRC Research Press for it's lovely trove of articles.

Thank you.
Foremost, I am not an illustrator, so adapting to a 'cartoony style' is actually rather difficult for me. But, Toriel has settled into what will be her appearance, for now. Moreover, designing clothing with a regal style (without being overly ceremonious) is more troublesome than it looks.
I am glad you enjoy it, though. These works are a learning experience for me.

Aw yis that notebook just feels so right.
And I've never seen Toriel drawn in that style before; I like it.

Greetings.
That's been quite the question of mine: "What would a journal or book belonging to Gaster look like? How would style or composition change over time? How would this relate to the materials that these books are constructed from?" As this is all a work in progress, I can't quite answer my own questions - but the thought of the journey and complexity of Gaster's depiction and habits is quite compelling. The writing in that journal is meant in some cases to be almost like margin-notes or scribbles, while other entries are larger or more properly formed... In any case, I'm glad you like it. Things may or may not get more eccentric over time.
As for Toriel, it'd taken me an amount of time just to adapt to depicting her. This is a time frame many, many decades before Undertale proper, but I also needed a form of regalia or vestments for her that still held their formality, but were somewhat more casual than full formal or ceremonial attire. Toriel will be very important throughout this, and I hope to expound on her traits, and the necessity of making difficult decisions.

Greetings. And I must say "Aha!" I recognize your icon; it's good to encounter a fellow fan of Carbot.
Thank you for mentioning your curiosity. I am rather letting spontaneity be the pilot of much of this whole set of ideas, but I can easily say that it's path of learning and intent is very enjoyable - and that includes the plethora of topics that consideration of Gaster make me look toward.
This journal of his is central to the start of the plot, and I hope that it's many topics will reflect well into it's pages... Whatever form that ultimately takes. Gaster is a complex individual, and this is meant to be reflected in the pages of his work - it leaves Toriel and others to ask many questions, and weigh considerations.
Please do enjoy, as time goes on! I cannot say how often updates may happen (or not), but such is life.

Dear god does Gaster's book look amazing! And how you have drawn his hand writing! It looks so awesome! It looks like real language with those simplistic was of making all the letters. I have some trouble reading those (partly because I'm not native english speaker) but I think Gaster would write that way that you could hardly make it out. And of course this whole page is drawn with pure skill. Story sounds really interesting so I really hope to see more. Now excuse me I will go find paper and translate that writing! XD

Greetings.
In all honesty, it's good to see someone take to the writing. It had taken me a couple of pages of practice just to figure out a more efficient manner of writing Windings. After all, most written forms will come down to a certain ease and relaxed form, depending on the writer. Important topics or headings are writ larger, and in some places there may be more detailed capitals or ornate elements. Overall, I wanted it to be that handwritten, cursive sort of hand that Gaster would use strictly for his own practicality and reference. Perhaps sadly, most others wouldn't be able to read it anyhow.
Not only that, the book's entries are meant to be relatively cohesive throughout, and the whole of the journal's pages intended to be shown in this comic set is a subject that it takes a lot of concrete reading and research to piece together properly. The many sides of Gaster's studies will be reflected in this journal - an important artifact for Toriel and others to ponder over. Some entries in the journal are meant to be quick, scribbled notes, and others, more legible - different times and conditions of writing. We all have various manners in how our handwriting varies.
Yes, there's no need to worry over your English; I think you do well! As for the Wingdings, I fully expect I am the one who will make various mistakes here and there. In fact, I found one while 'proofreading' some of these entries while I was creating this final work! I can mostly read capital-Wingdings, but it's a slow and halting process.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts, and please do continue to enjoy these as I manage to submit them.
