Hannah seemed to find herself in situations she never wants to be in. Living paycheck to paycheck isn’t easy and she barely affords rent. She has an acquaintance named Zach that sometimes lends her money. This particular month he had lended her enough to pay her rent but wanted the money back quicker then usual. Hannah had to go seem today and pay up but she was still waiting on a paycheck. She had just gotten off work and was still in her professional attire. As she stepped off the train the clacks of her leather boots could be heard as she walked through the terminal. She made it on to the main street and found her way to Zach’s apartment building. As she knocked on his door she heard someone coming to answer it. As the door opened Zach greeted her “ahhh Hannah I was wondering who it was that was knocking, it’s good to see ya! I hope you’ve brought the money today.” “Hey Zach, I know, I don’t want to be the barer of bad news and I really tried this time but my job hasn’t paid me yet” Hannah said quietly. She was unsure what he may say coming over empty handed. “Hannah we’ve been over this. I needed that money back yesterday. You come here today empty handed looking like money” Zach says. “ I know what it looks like and I jus got off work. These are my professional cloths” Hannah tells him. Zach looks her up and down and sees she’s wearing a nice watch and a necklace. “How bout you give me some collateral. I like that watch and necklace you have. How bout we start with those” he says. “Oh Zach I guess I can lend you them. You can’t pawn these please” she begs. “If you don’t bring the money to me in the next 3 days I can’t promise you I won’t. I need my money” he says. Hannah sat there feeling completely helpless after losing the watch and necklace her grandmother gave her. She stood there hoping he didn’t want anything else. “Let’s see, is there anything of value you have on you now? I need as much as I can get” Greg said as he looked her up and down. “ idk Zach I really don’t have much” she said, as she looked down at her leather boots startled. Zach noticed and glanced down at her boots and smiled. “How bout you give me those Hannah” as he pointed to her feet. “Oh god no Zach I have to take the train and all I have on under these are thin pantyhose.” He smiled “it seems that’s not my problem and you should’ve thought about that before coming here” he said. “Take them off Hannah” Zach said. She knew there was nothing she could do. She felt horribly embarrassed and started to unzip her leather boots. As her stocking feet slid out of each one the smell of her warm pantyhose feet hit Zack in the nose. He laughed and picked up her boots and set them on the table. “See Hannah that wasn’t so bad was it” as he looked down at her pantyhose feet and smiled. As collected her belongings and put them in a pile, Hannah couldn’t help but stare at her confiscated boots on Zach’s table. “Now Hannah you bring that money and you can have all this back” Zach said as Hannah stood up and got ready to leave. She was silent from the sheer shock she had from losing her boots and now having to make her way home in her stocking feet. She stepped out Zach’s apartment and felt the cold pavement on her stocking feet and she began to make her way to the train station missing her watch, necklace and leather boots.
