First go at boxers! This is more of a study based on some photo reference, mostly trying to capture the gesture. Not a bad first jab, but in the next round I’m hoping for a knockout by pushing the proportions and exaggerating the features

Speaking as a fan of boxing, I really enjoy the story-telling of the bottom-right drawing. The hubris of the defending fighter, and the frustrated determination of the engaging fighter is a classic narrative that is exactly what makes boxing so sensational. I particularly appreciate the defensive fighter's athletic posture to avoid what would have ended the night for a fighter without such a complete mastering of his craft. It's the right blend of exceptionalism and anatomical authenticity. Something you might witness from Pernell Whitaker, James Toney, or Tevin Farmer.
Thank you for spotlighting boxing with this piece. For those who might be interested, boxing is on the upswing currently. It has its share of problems, but there is a sharp influx of talent from Europe that is providing a Mayweather-level talent in almost every division, and sometimes multiple all-time greats squaring off within months apart. The heavyweight division is in a resurgent period as well. Big fights are being broadcast on standard cable. It's a good time to be a boxing viewer.
