Description

Story time!
As most of you noticed I’ve been barely posting images anymore. People kept hitting me up when I’m going to post new paintings and what I’m up to.

So what I’ve been up to? I’d be happy to tell you that I’ve been working my ass off, having my day full of freelance work but nah. No fake it til you make it this time! : D
Being stuck in a loop of uncreativity I spend most of my day learning new techniques, programs and somehow broadening my view, hoping that it clicks again and I can get back to making awesome paintings I enjoy. Looking back now it’s already been a few months since my last proper image and I doubt that it will make suddenly click, haha.
Instead I started forcing myself to get back into it, not being focused on anything specific, but enjoying the process. One of the biggest reasons getting stuck was probably not doing the exact kind of work I always wanted to do.
Just doing what you’re good at doesn’t always work out, especially if you’re not enjoying the process.

Sooo, what to expect? I’ll start a lot more experiments again, trying to get into different styles (oh medieval fantasy!) and firing up the engines again… somehow!

And for the people telling me “If you don’t enjoy it, don’t do it anymore”. I still enjoy the hell out of it and every day not being creative makes me go crazy, haha. So don’t even think about loosing me >: )

This probably sounds familiar to most of you, so what helped you most to snap out of this loops?
Oh and attached is a painting I did in the last couple of days that I quite enjoyed! Hope you like it too!

What a stunning piece this is. From the overall mood to the incredible details of the sea and the wet sand, this is beautifully sad. It is really impressive to me how you made the wet beach with its subtle reflections so believable. Also you did a great job with how 'soggy' the whales look. When on land gravity really takes hold and they tend to sort of collapse, which you portrayed perfectly here. Makes me wonder what happened to the poor whales to end up there with spears sticking out of their back.

Simply beautiful. It has a sorrowful look to it yet it's simply amazing.
