Description Manarola, Cinque Terre - Italy.

Manarola is one of the Cinque Terre, it means Five Lands, but a more appropiate translation is the Five Villages. They are, from east to west, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides form the Cinque Terre National Park.
The Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site .

Yes, you took earlier photos of this beautiful place. I can't help but wonder what it must be like to live there. The pace of life must be so very different from the big city, or even a small one, in the USA.

Very nostalgic feeling here. I love it. I bet the people are really very genuine and caring folks.

Thanks for sharing. Great photograph!

Thank you really so much for the comment!

I visited this place in summer, when a lot of tourists visit and the town is full of life. In others periods of the year have to be very different, much more nostalgic too. Just consider that in all the five small towns that form that National Park cars are not allowed. Beside one main road all the other streets are so narrow and many times you have to use stairs to arrive to the upper houses.

Yeah, I noticed that there were not any cars in the photo. Why would one need a car? More like perhaps a donkey or bike at the most.

What do people do there for a living? Is it mainly a fishing community? Are there restaurants and hotels? I would love to go there for a visit some day.

Tourism is the most important part of the economy without doubt, then i think is fishing. There are some restaurants and hotels of course, but the best and cheapest way to stay there is to rent a room or apartment from a local family, like we did in summer.
