Description
After playing the battle strategy games Warcraft III i decided to do a Warcraft fanart pic involving two of my most favourite characters, Arthas, Death Knight of the Scourge, and Thrall, Warchief of the orcish Hoarde duking it out in Northrend. It was based on the Arthas vs Illidan fight at the end of Frozen throne but i replaced Illidan with Thrall to see how it would look like if they fought.
If you havent heard of these characters i'll give you the lowdown.
Arthas is kinda the Darth Vader of the Warcraft world. He was once the prince of the human kingdom of Lordaeron. He was a paladin of the Kirin tor and was assisted by his friend Uther the Lightbringer. After a plague swpt the kingdom, Arthas swore he would destroy whoever was responsible which turned out to be the undead scourge lead by the Dreadlord Mal'Ganis. Arthas chased Mal'ganis to the frozen realm of Northrend.
Arthas found the cursed Runeblade Frostmourne and used it to kill Mal'ganis, but the sword corrupted him and made him turn to the dark side, joining the scourge and became a Death knight.
Arthas returned home and murdered his father, the king letting the scourge destroy Lordaeron. He then lead the the Scourge to the elven kingdom of Quel'thelas which fell by undead hands and Arthas turned the ranger Sylvanas Windrunner into a banshee.
After helping the dreadlords bring in the burning legion the dreadlords took control of the Scourge but Arthas took back power afterwards. Arthas was called back to Northrend as his master, The Lich King, leader of the Scourge was in trouble. After travelling to Icecrown in Northrend, Arthas was confronted by demon Illidan Stormrage who wishes to destroy the Frozen Throne, The lich Kings seat of power. Arthas defeats Illidan and frees his Master from his icy prision, which was just nothing but armour. After donning the helm, Arthas became the new Lich King of Northrend.
As for Thrall, he was found by humans after his parents were betrayed and killed by the old Hoarde. Thrall was imprisioned and was trained to become a gladiator. Longing for freedom, Thrall escapes his prision to find his people. After finding remnants of his fathers clan, The frostwolves. Thrall was trained to be a Shaman and began freeing his people, He then lead an assault lead by a friend of his father, Ogrim Doomhammer and Grom Hellscream on the human who imprisioned him ,Blackmoore. After slaying Blackmoore, Ogrim was dying and let Thrall inherit his armour and his doomhammer. Thrall became Warchief of the new hoarde, who are based on honour and no longer corrupted by the Burning Legion.
By the third war, Thrall led the Horde west to Kalimdor where they settled in the new Orc nation of Durotar.
Well, i hope that explains their story and i hope you like the pic, Specially fans of The Horde and the Scourge.

Slowly, the Horde formed once However, Doomhammer was killed and with his last breath, he proclaimed Thrall leader of the Horde. Thrall then destroy's Blackmoore's forstress.
Reign Of Chaos
Thrall leads his people to Kalimdor through the mysterious Prophet. There, he meets human resistance led by Jaina Proudmoore for the same reason. He is joined by Carine Bloodhoof, leader of the Taurens. Thrall then moves to Stonetalon peak finding that the so-called Prophet was Medivh who needed both human and orc forces to team up against the Burning Legion. In the end, Human, Orc and Night Elves then joined forces to stop and eradicate the Burning Legion.

In the Frozen Throne, he meets Rexxar and then unreveal a terrible plot that a Admiral Proudmoore planned to destroy their settlement. He and Rexxar re-build the Horde and destroyed the Admiral's capital along with him.

Err...okay...I think you got the story a little way off.
Reign Of Chaos.
King Terenas Menethil II(Arthas's father) sent his son and Uther(both paladins of the Silverhand) to destroy a orc threat. Arthas was a paladin of Lordaeron, not the Kirin Tor. He then teams up with former lover Jaina Proudmoore to investigate the mysterious plague. There, he met Kel'Thuzad and his cult of the Damned. After defeating him and his minions, he journeyed to Northrend without Uther or his king's consent. There, he teams up with Muradin Bronzebeard to find Frostmourne. Muradin got killed in the process and Arthas finally took his revenge by killing Mal'Ganis the Dreadlord.
Frozen Throne
After the Burning Legion's defeat at Mount Hyjai, Arthas comes back to control his kingdom, whether by force or not. He then realized The Frozen Throne's ebbing power and quickly move himself to Northrend. He is later betrayed and nearly killed by the banshee Sylvanas but was saved by his mojo-domo Kel'Thuzad. After arriving on Northrend, he meets Anub'arak, a Crypt Lord, where they discover that Illidan, Kael and Lady Vashj and their Blood Elf-Naga armies goal to destroy the Frozen Throne. Thus, both armies clash with the victor being Arthas defeating Illidan(he didn't die) while the rest of Illidan's forces retreat back to Outland. Arthas then release Ner'zhul's prison, becoming one with him.

wow, those are some fine stories about them Never knew about the stories in Warcraft...since Im no good with strategy games
The pic itself is great aswell ^_^ perhaps a tip: speed lines arent the only things that can capture movement, try and make a sticking out line by the item that is using the movement, like I did with Whiteflame in [link] this
Otherwise, your shading and anatomy of drawing characters is improving yet again keep up the brilliant work mate

yeah, as its a fantasy world it would have a history with its races, wars and characters.
And i think i understand what u are on about with the line but i could do with more examples, i could try the technique out.
so thanks anyway mate and i'm glad u like the pic.

yeah, in the FMVs the armnour looks very detailed and realistic but in the game it looks all jagged and toony-like.

Golly. What a story! (Though how do you kill that which has no life?)
And a great drawing to boot, too!

well, Arthas is very powerful with Frostmourne and whoever weilds it shall become the Lich King. so possibly destroying the sword will destroy the user?
also thanks fer the comment mate, glad u like it.

Wow! Looks like a couple of tough guys that are facing off there!
Hooray for complex characters, though... more depth makes them more realistic!
