there are many of these kinds of trees in Australia, which have died out in the desert, usually for salinity levels

I used a polarizer on this shot and adjusted it so that the sky was a dark blue. As far as the stones go it's actually some broken glass that has smoothed over time due to the surrounding elements. They were not placed there, that is where they lay. Just had to hunt for a composition that worked.

Ummm added overall contrast, little bit extra to the sand. Slight curve adjustment and then slightly desaturated.
