Description The Pride of Daedalus

I'm quite happy with this one. Not completely however. I accidentally saved the file as PNG instead of PSD and wasn't quite finished working on it but I think it fits with the story I was going for so... I won't grumble too much.

I thought of naming it the Flight of Icarus but I think that's been done to death. So I thought long and hard and came up with "The Pride of Daedalus". I guess it has a double meaning. It could mean Icarus or it could mean his pride and vanity which meant he thought he could make his son fly on "wings of wax and vanity"

For anyone confused, Deadalus is the big planet watching it's moon, Icarus (the small planet) near the sun, which is shrouded in a nebuala.

I can't really pin down how long this took. I'd say months because I've been practiceing and failing quite alot before this and then it seemed to click into place effortlessly.

Hope you like it.

Nice job! it's better if you put the stars-field on color dudge to fet with the lightning and another thing about the big planet that I think its shadow needs to be detailed more and, finaly how about if you put some blue color on the big planet texture

Thanks. I actually never even thought of putting the starfield layers on anything but screen. Had real problems with stars unti very recently.
As for the planet it's a long story but this was only about 70% finished when I accidentallt saved the entire thing as a PNG. I have the planet .psd still but I'm gonna have to leave it a while before I revisit this one. Too painful... But I do agree with the planet needing more work. Compared to my latest planet [link] this one looks dreadful. But I think that's cool cuz I'm improving.

Aha, yeah the stars field with screen always but when there is nebula like this the stars filed need to be on color dudge (hope you get the point ) and about the planet hmmm I think making planets is the hardest in Space Art and I advice you to take looks on great space artists' planets

Well I've kinda built on Alyn and Dinyctus' planet tuts. Mainly because Between them they cover the main basics and after that it's just practice and creativity. But at the moment I'm working on getting everything else up to scratch. Nebs and stars.

About the stars, make sure you followed the stars tuts right only and do some personal ways for detailing the starsfield , hmmmm the nebula is relly fun to make or to paint mostly and there are many ways to set neb , and for me I use textures with playing on them a bit like applying blur on them sometimes or anything beside that
