Thought i'd try some more studio stuff. Studio being a lamp with some tracing paper in front of it and a large piece of paper. Works for me
A ball bearing sitting on some coloured pencils
I really like the strong lines of the pencils and then the way the ball bearing bends them into a vortex kinda shape.

I dont like this, I LOVE it.
I love the way the silver ball is just sitting on the pencils and the colour of the pencils makes this a really nice shot!
I also love the way the colour of the pencils is only shown on the bottom half of the ball and the silver at the top.

This image is absolutely awesome, I saw your avatar based on this image and I clicked on it because I thought it was based on some cool 3d render. In the avatar it really looks like a ball with hdri reflections. When I saw it was a photograph, I was blown away by the stunning use of colour, the perfect composition, and the overall richness on display here. Would you mind if I attempted to render this in 3d? Anyway, beautiful work man!
