The style of the sprites are tricky do to them being prerendered from actually 3D Models.
it's not an easy style to mimic.

I wasn't expecting to see shovel and plage knight, nice, now that I remember, there where some enemies on the factory that resembled shovel knight a bit right?

I believe the enemy is the "Factory Chief"
and given his appearance, i wouldn't doubt if super mario rpg inspired shovel knights design.

oh the tweeters from mario bros 2, for a long time I thought those reallt were birds, it took me a long time to notice they were wearing a mask

its an odd enemy as it has a bird mask but it has like a bat body.
