Description Thunder Hawk from Street Fighter 2

"Your scream sounds like a pathetic war cry!" ~ T.Hawk, Super SF2

Drawn for the SF 30th Anniversary Tribute at
As always, I would like to thank for cutting out the character.
The second round is here, and since I already drew Blanka for the last SF tribute, figured I'd go for one of my second SF2 favs, the towering giant that is T.Hawk.
Heh, I can still remember all the hype when Super SF2 was out with the increased roster and how all the new faces were the center of attention for quite a while. Fei Long was to much of a basic Bruce Lee copy for me, and I'd say he kinda still is (at least Law had some personality of his own and was much more entertaining), Dee Jay and Cammy were great (plus, IMO Cammy has the best legs out of all SF chicks to this day), but I couldn't really handle them well. T.Hawk on the other hand, he was a really unique case, he was supposed to be a grappler like Zangief, but unlike his Russian grappling friend, T.Hawk had way more direct attack moves at his disposal, hell, his long limps gave him far more reach as well (even when attempting a special throw his reach is better than Gief's), his not as popular now, but back then he was a powerhouse of awesomeness and the main of many players, and I should mention he had the most powerful super combo in the whole game (even though the arcade owner got mad whenever someone attempted a 360/720 throw XD).
Also, I'm really glad I got to do him for the SF2 round, cause that is the look I like for him best. Back in SF2, he was tall and well-built, but far from the chunky and top-heavy, cartoonishly buffed up version in SF Alpha 3. The cartoonish style of SFA worked well for some, like Sagat, but for others, like T.Hawk or M.Bison, it just looked wrong, so it's a really a shame that's the version they went with in SF4 for T.Hawk, especially how Bison got his SF2 look back.

Anyways, it was real fun to draw Thunderhawk, trying to do an action pose as usual, but what's interesting is how some people see my take differently. Some say he looks like doing a jumping knee kick, others see him doing a leaping chop of sorts. One thing's for sure, since it's T.Hawk, I just had to do some kind of mid-air attack, cause that's kinda his theme. Ever notice how each and every one of his specials and supers has him leaping off the ground in some way? Even for his throw he jumps up before slamming his opponent to the ground.

Definitely one of the more striking looking characters when he got released. I really love that design and sprite. I'm not too much into SF, but I remember thinking that the 4 new characters look too badass compared to the original cast (or maybe because they're new)... with T.Hawk leading the pack.

Anyway, nice draw! I really love that pose.

Well granted, most of my interest was aimed at miss White >3 damn, those legs, especially during her winpose 8D but yeah, I sucked at playing Cammy, so I picked up Hawk XD
You could say the new characters were fleshed out a bit more, after all, the SF2 cast was pretty basic to begin with and there was a small gap between the original SF2 and later versions with the new charas. But then again, them standing out a bit during that time was part of what made them so memorable. Some newer SF cast members may have fit a bit too well, making them a bit too bland and lost in the crowd to easily (most notably El Fuerte and Abel).

And thanks, like always, I do my best to make the pose perfect ^^

Way to capture the Native-American warrior in all his awesome glory! The shadowy effects definitely make him look more vicious; like a threat that can truly take down Bison.

To me he was always that kind of threat, tower over even the tall Sagat, more buff than him too (always made me chuckle how thin he is in that game, he was buffer even in SF1) with some fast and devastating leaping attacks and a throw stronger and better reaching than Zangief's >D
It took a while to get around him, but it sure was worth it >3

Anyways, really glad you like my take on Hawk ^^
