Oh! well, gotta say that at first i thought as you... just till this summer that i learned some new stuffs about the camera and well... now i enjoy it 1000 times more!
and about the skill... well, i also think it's a matter of luck mixed with a bit of being there the right moment and being able to realize what's happening

Great photo
What impresses me most is that a imagery in this image. I could mean so many things.
It reminds me of the movie Unbreakable, where he sees everything in the train station in b/w but certain people have a item on them that is red. Or something like that.
On another note.
People are so busy with there own lives they don't stop to take a look around once in a while. In this picture most the other people in the photo are not taking notice of a great moment that is taking place right there in front of them.

It could mean something different to everyone that views it, invoking a different feeling in each one of the audience. To me that is what makes a great picture.
