Description
Her father looks at her, “Kantami?” his voice is raspy.“Yeah dad. It's me.” She says walking over. Before she can say anything further her father interrupts her.
“Has your grandfather come to pick you up?”
“My grandfather?” she sounds a little surprised.
“Yes, I'm sorry I didn't tell you that he was picking you up, but I had no way of telling you.”
The man from the school walks into the room, “So Xavier's, I see your still up,” he laughs gently, but with a saddened tone to it, “Kantami have you calmed yet?”
The girl turns around suddenly upon hearing his voice, she moves closer to her father, who laughs softly, a light laugh, more at his daughter's jumpiness. “Hello dad,” he says, “What happened with Kantami?”
Kantami blushes a little, but looking at the man, she realizes her father just called him dad, “But... you're Sire Kontsushigomi... we're Kintishigomi...”
He smiles at her, “Yes, that's correct Kantami, but that's because your father changed his name to get away from the stress of being a Kontsushigomi. I am, in fact, your grandfather,” he says still smiling, his eyes not leaving her. He had missed her growing up.
“Dad?”
“He's your grandfather... and dad, she may be living with you, but no gang stuff. She's not getting into that! It's why I left in the first place.”
“Alright, I'll respect your wishes, but if she wants to get into it, I'm not going to stop her.”
“Don't force it on her dad!” he warns.
“Alright, alright, don't worry. Now rest Xavier, you need your sleep, or your going to end up killing yourself.” the man says, now on the other side of the bed as Kantami. He gives her a smile.
Her father looks at her, “Go to his house and relax Kantami, I want you to have an actual place to sleep. Please, he is your grandfather.”
The girl looks at her father and knows she has no place to argue. She nods, “Alright dad... You get better alright?”
“I will. I love you Kantami, be good for your grandfather.”
“Alright dad.” she says giving him a soft kiss.
“Go get settled now, I'm sure your grandfather will want to get you clothing and such. He's been working on a room for you all day.”
The girl nods, “Yes daddy,” she says and walks away with the man said to be her grandfather. She feels uneasy as this is the first time she has even seen the man face to face. She goes outside to the car with him. It is a beautiful black car with dark tinted windows. The man that sits in the front passenger seat has her backpack and her coat. He was one of the men that had followed her. He wears the same as the other males in white. His skin is light in color, while the other one, with the same color skin, is wearing all black. He is driving. Both of them are the ones that had followed her to the hospital. The other guards took various cars.
Her grandfather smiles sitting beside her in the care, “So Kantami, what do you want to do first? We could go home and you could get a shower, or you could go shopping. I know you need some new things.”
“There's nothing else I have to wear, a shower would be absolutely useless,” she mutters.
“Well I did get a few things for you to change into thanks to your dad,” he says again smiling at her, “He told me sizes and I had your guards go out and buy some things for you. Which reminds me, the males in the front seat are your guards. The male in the white is James, he's your main guard, and the male driving is Cooper, and he's going to be just your day guard. Another male named Samuel will take his place at night. Your room will be beside James's own, as he can be awoken in the event of an emergency. A door connects the two rooms.”
The girl looks at him confused. James turns, “I'll explain a little better when we get you home and settled.” He gives her a smile, but his eyes are still hidden behind the shades.
The girl nods, and her grandfather continues, “If you want a pet of any kind, go ahead, but it will be your responsibility. However, I don't like cats, I'm allergic, meaning, if you really want to get one, it stays in only your room.”
“I've always wanted a puppy,” she says softly, “The rottweilers are so cute.”
“Then buy a rottweiler puppy,” he says, “You really don't have to worry about money, spend what you want, to get as much as you want.”
The girl blushes at this. So this is her grandfather, whose presents under the tree at Christmas were always expensive, and occasionally unneeded. She had never seen her grandfather face to face before, and only her father would be aloud to talk to him on the phone. It embarrassed her that, though related, she'd never met him before, and yet, he was going to give her what ever she asked for.
When she looks back up he's smiling at her again, “My granddaughter.” he says in a loving voice, taking her hand, “I want you to feel comfortable at my house Kantami, anything you want, I'll get for you.” he looks into her eyes, his glasses now clear. He kisses her forehead softly, “I'm sorry I missed your childhood, but your dad wanted to keep his family safe, and I respected that.”
“I understand grandpa.” she says the last word slowly as if trying it out with the male.
He smiles again and relaxes.
Outside the window, they're stopped at a gate. A beautiful metal gate, wrapped in ivy. Beyond the gates the landscape is beautiful as well, trees and bushes everywhere. Sensors are placed throughout as well as cameras. Guards roam the forested grounds, and fewer guards roam the rest of the grounds.
The actual home, or mansion as it's more like, sits grandly between the trees, ivy moving over the brick giving it an older grand look. The ivy is kept well as not to get out of control. They park in front of the double doors. James gets out and opens the door for Kantami to get out of the car. She blushes a little as he helps her out. He leads her inside, her grandfather following directly behind them. Within the doors is a grand staircase, beautiful cherry wood steps and railings, complimented with lighter whitish wood.
“Kantami, you can go with James and get settled in your room. Get some new cloths on and he'll take you shopping.”
Kantami nods.
“I hope you don't mind your room is on the first floor, but I'm working on something special for you upstairs,” he smiles saying no more on the subject, keeping his project a secret as he goes up the stairs to work on it.
