Chapter ThreeThe Road Home…
The girl looks at her father, "No!" she stood up looking at her father, she was trying not to cry.
"What do you mean 'no'?" Jonathan asked looking surprised to hear his daughter say that to him. She had never talked back before.
"I do not want a new mother! I will make her hate you or something. Daddy, I like it just you me and Sebastian, please don't change that," she said as she lost the battle to her tears as they now slipped down cheeks. She still wasn't over her mother's death, despite the time that has gone past. Adrianna really didn't want to see another person she loved lost, and she was hardly hanging on to her family, so it wasn't surprising that she did not want to become attached to someone new.
Jonathan looked at his daughter. He was extremely surprised; he didn't know how to tell the girl what he felt. He was taken aback, he had never seen his daughter act this way and he wanted to be mad at her, but he just couldn't be mad at his little angel. Jonathan just wanted her to have a mother's love, perhaps it was too soon. He wanted to move on, but seeing his daughter's reaction made him remember his deceased wife. His heart pained at the sight of his daughter's disobedience, at her raw emotions, at how much she was just like her mother. Everyone was staring at them, but neither Jonathan nor Adrianna noticed. Sebastian watched carefully as Jonathan got up and moved over to be beside his daughter, who was now crying quite hard, but in a silent angry fashion. He put his arms around her and drew her into his lap. He didn't let her resist him.
"Adrianna… I see it's too soon to try to date again… but don't you think you would like another mother, and that I would like another wife?" He asked gently stroking her cheek.
"NO!" she snapped at her father knocking her father's hand away, "I don't want another mom, I want my mother back."
Jonathan looked like his heart was breaking. He stared at his girl but he gave a small nod. He didn't really want another wife; he really just wanted to fill the void, to find someone to help him patch up his heart. Jonathan rubbed Adrianna's back gently as she slowly calmed down for him, he really didn't know what to do for his little girl, but she was calm, at least, as she began to eat once more. Jonathan moved back to his seat as he watched her, watching his silent daughter.
The child remained quiet the whole time, speaking only to get her ice cream for dessert. It was almost too quiet, and Sebastian watched her silently, now he was ignoring the eyes as Jonathan finally caught site of everyone starring. He was starting to get mad, not at his daughter but at himself. He had known better than to bring something this important up in a public place, and now he was going to pay for it. Anger soon turned into shame as he really felt the damage he had done to his little girl.
It wasn't long before the family made their way back to the limo that had dropped them off. The girl was sitting as far away from her father as possible while she looked out the window at the passing trees.
"I messed up didn't I Sebastian?" Jonathan whispered to the boy.
"Well, sir, she still hasn't quite gotten over her mother's death…" he replied just as quietly, he knew that Adrianna was supposed to be kept out of this conversation.
"I just think she needs a mother's influence," started Jonathan.
"She gets enough of that from the maids," interrupted Sebastian, "You really shouldn't bring anyone new into her life right now. She's afraid of losing who she has, and I don't think her heart can stand having to worry about someone else that she cares about. I think that you should talk to Ikaria, she has a daughter about Adrianna's age, and I know that Ikaria has a huge crush on you. If you're going to try to love anyone, I think that she's the girl for you."
"Are you sure that this will work out?" Jonathan asked looking at Sebastian in surprise.
"This will work, so long as you keep it slow Master Jonathan, I mean, she already lets Ikaria in, she trusts her as if a second mother." Sebastian said looking over the girl; it wasn't hard to figure out what he was thinking. Jonathan didn't want to admit that he was thinking about allowing Sebastian to date his daughter. He knew that the little girl was in need of someone to hold onto, someone to really love.
"Have Ikaria come over tonight, I think I would like to have an evening with her after the party tonight."
"Yes my lord."
"And Sebastian, you really should be calling me dad, or father, or something like that."
"Yes my- dad," Sebastian smiled. He smiled a little brighter as Adrianna had calmed down enough to take a seat in her father's lap. The girl closed her eyes and took a little nap in her father's lap. He gave a smile, he was amazed his child actually was in his lap at this point. He was so worried that he had lost her. It wasn't very surprising to Sebastian that the girl was back in her father's arms. She always had a soft heart, and her father welcoming arms.
"I'm going to take her to bed when we get home, she can join the party later, we'll just have someone stay with her as she sleeps, you never know what people will do at a party," Jonathan sighed, he was very concerned about his little girl, he also wasn't a fan of parties, but he couldn't just shut everyone out or he'd get a bad reputation. His wife had convinced him of that. She used to be the party planner.
"I could watch her s- dad," Sebastian says.
"Nope, I need you keeping me sane while I am with the party guests," he laughed. He stroked his daughter's back gently, before he softly spoke. "I hope she'll be able to let Ikaria in…"
Sebastian looked over Jonathan and then it hit him, "Dad, Ikaria has a sister who she had to adopt. I mean Adrianna and she are good friends, but I heard them fighting the other day. If you have Ikaria over, her sister Kayla will also have to come… and I'm not sure if it will work out."
"Do you know what they were fighting over?"
"No," Sebastian lied, he didn't need Jonathan worrying that the two girls had been fighting over who got to marry him in the pretend game they were having.
~~~~~~~
"And I'm going to marry Sebastian," Adrianna started as they were deciding who got to play what role in their game of house. "That means you have to be the daughter…" Adrianna wasn't usually bossy, it was just when it came to house, she thought she knew what she wanted because she always loved the way her family was so close, and knew that some people's wasn't.
"You just want to marry him in the game so you can kiss him!" Kayla complained, "I want to marry him, besides, I'd be aloud, you're too rich and perfect to marry a servant! Your daddy wouldn't allow you too!"
"Would so! Daddy says I can marry anyone I want when I get older! And you can't tell me what my daddy would say!"
"Well if you spent more time with your daddy then he spent with me than maybe he would love you enough to let you do that, but he told me yesterday that he wasn't going to let you marry Sebastian even if you really really really wanted to!" the girl snapped, it was a lie, but she wanted to get Adrianna going so that she could actually have a chance at being with Sebastian. It didn't matter what it took.
By the time Sebastian had managed to get into the room with him, the girls were pulling each other's hair screaming. Adrianna had a cut on her face and Kayla's face had a red slap mark. Sebastian and picked up Kayla because she was closest.
"SEE HE PICKED ME!"
Adrianna looked up at Sebastian with such a look that her heart seemed to be falling to pieces. He sighed and took Kayla out of the room. He sat her down in the bathroom, "I am sorry Miss Kayla, but I'm not picking anyone, I just didn't want you hurting the young mistress," and with that he had left Kayla on the sink counter of the servant's bathroom, before he returned to the young mistress. He picked her up off of her bed, his white gloves currently laying on her night stand. His soft fingers ran along the cut that she had to heal it. Her eyes opened and looked up into his eyes, while hers were filled with tears, "Young Adrianna, no need to cry."
"But Kayla was picked instead of me. You love her more!"
"No, no Kayla, I don't want to pick anyone…"
"You don't love me?"
"Adrianna… that's not what I mean… please understand, I can't date anyone right now… your dad won't let me…" He hated to lie to her, but he needed a way to make her stop crying, and with the silent implied love, the girl did as such and hugged Sebastian.
~~~~~~~
"Right, well let's hope they can get along tonight," Jonathan commented, he was just hoping for a nice night with a lovely woman. He didn't know what exactly would happen with it, it was just a chance at finding love. He felt as though it had been long enough, and while his daughter was a great inspiration, it really wasn't enough anymore.
The car came to a stop and he gently woke his daughter up. The girl looked up at him blinking a few times before she smiled up at him. Jonathan gently pushed her hair back behind her ear, "Party time," he smiled, as he took the girl's hand gently.

Good to see that you're continuing with a story, some writers tend to stop. The problem that I see with your story is you do a lot of telling versus showing. I am forced to be at a distance from the characters and I find that instead of telling what the emotions are, allow the reader to feel them. It doesn't have to be done in any grand way but through subtle means. John's character is unbelievable, why would he ask his daughter if she would like another mother? Mothers are not replaceable, not by any means and his callous attitude towards his daughter's grief even though he "can't be mad at his little angel" makes me dislike this character. Your dialogue is stilted, the phrasing of your sentences blends together from character to character, and I don't see any real uniqueness from one to another. If you work on your characterization/dialogue more, this story would be stronger. Keep going.

This one was kinda rushed, i feel like revamping the whole thing... ^_^ I'll be upgrading the whole thing when I get the chance. I just wanna get through it so that I can focus on rewriting rather then moving forward. (I kinda didn't want him to be that like-able...)

Likeable is one thing, and the reader being able to relate to him is another. Character believability hinges on if the reader is able to find something that causes them a moment of introspection. Whether it be guilty introspection, shameful, proud, etc. Every character should have something that the reader could relate to. Think of the grand Adversary in Paradise Lost, the reader relates to him more-so than God. If Satan can be humanized and related to, so can your character.
