Description
First off, I'm sorry I've been so slow to respond to you guys. I'll get right on that soon, but trust me I've got lots of stuff I need to get moving on, so it's not just you.Okay, again, I decided to "color" the line art of another artist. This time it was the work of *Marisale .
Well, it was a joy... but took a lot longer that anticipated because I tried a new thing here. I don't really know what to say about this. I guess I kinda like it and I kinda don't. It just doesn't seem right to me... but I suppose it looks good.
The picture was taken in direct sunlight so it's kinda sorta funky-good--A lot of things should be much darker but ended up with a reflection. Originally there wasn't bewbs, but I added them anyways. This probably took me 12-14 hours... I dunno... but it looks nice... just too much shading... the line are looks better I feel. I don't think my shading fits the style too well... and I can't say I'm too happy with this, but whatevah... Uh... printer paper can't handle my mad shading skillz foshizzle, plus there are some of those speckles again.
I can't think of much more too say... Enjoy!
Lines go to
Shading goes to moi.
EDIT:
Firstly, I'd like to apologize for my genuinely incoherent description on this... I was insanely tired at the time, but can't be bothered to change it now... and... I just don't care, whatever. :/
Secondly, *Marisale ran this through photoshop and upped the contrast... and I gotta say, it looks amazing... almost exactly like the original.

Aaah... haha... Come on, that's not the additude I want to hear! You'd be surprised how my work looked once upon a time. I've only been a committed artist since I was 16, and I'm 21 now. Trust me when I say it all comes with time and dedication.... lots of dedication.
Have a "can do" personality and you'll always surprise yourself with what you can do. :3

I spray them, but it can be a problem keeping them clean a bit too... Just remove it form the sketch book and try not to set anything on the drawing until you've sprayed it...

Certainly, awesome work with light and shadow; I can really see the work and effort you put to this one. Very realistic shades! (:

The lighting on this one is INSANE. WOW, the tonal variety and the form is spot on fantastic. And the choice of making a direct light source was stunning.. because it makes the image more dramatic, and really enhightens the contrasts of light, shadow, and reflective light. Which is another thing you did SUPERBLY: The reflective light. I am enjoying this image throughly!

Lupinator In reply to tarkheki [2007-07-20 15:26:06 +0000 UTC]
Haha... thank you always, for all your kind words and support! :3
I don't mean to down other people's work, but to me, lighting can mean everything in an image. The decision to do a direct light source here was for two reasons. It was because I've never really drawn a dramatic source of lighting such as this before, and it was a nice opportunity to try it out when I didn't have to worry about the complications of the line art and additional details (all I had to worry about was the lighting and shading), and also, because the line art was considerable less detailed than my own work, and well, no offence to the original artist, but way too simplistic to be anything other than line art, and thus, the shading would also be rather simplistic as well, and the general effect of the entire image would be somewhat boring. So, the task that was set before me was to make this image as interesting as possible. In my opinion, good lighting can make anything pop out and interesting, you can make a pear or a brick completely awesome if you apply the right amount of lighting to it. So, that was my thinking and explanation here... albeit way too verbose.
Haha, thanks again, and sorry it's taken me until now to say something, I'm kept pretty busy, but I decided to take a couple days off from RL and just get back to my friends and messages online...

Dude, take all the time you need! Quite frankly, I appreciate a well thought out course of action, and i love hearing about them! As I said before- I take art very seriously, and I like seeing poeple who give it more than just a quick glance or half a thought before doing it. Mind you, your deliberation payed off as really, the image is very striking!

Haha... epic late reply.
I'm pretty glad to hear you take art so seriously though. It's a powerful thing, and not everyone is so capable of wielding, so it's a very special thing too. I got to amazing length to support other artists if I can, and it makes me a little sad when I see people kinda wasting their gifts with apathy. Eh, I could say a thousand different things about this subject and rant on for hours, but I won't, I think you of all people would know what I mean.
Thanks for your ever supporting words and nature!
