Description I accuse ~riftryu of drawing my character entirely too badass, so to counter this divine form of ass-kickery, I have drawn her character in a manner that may equally suggest a modest measurement of keister crushing glory.

I realize you may have some points of interest to remark upon in this image, so I will now open the floor up to a little bit of Q and A on the subject matter... To which all Questions with be answered with Ass-kickings...

Okay, seriously, I might move this to the scraps later. This is what I would call a "refined sketch"... to which I even went back and fixed up some minor things on the original afterwards. Anyways, this is about as good as my shading can get on this paper... the "tooth" is just so extreme here and the paper is just crap all around for my standards. This is just a picture from my mini sketch pad, that I usually use just to jot down ideas without ever really intending to finish up anything in this little book, nor could I really call anything in this book "finished" because itβ€˜ll always look like some kinda amazing FAIL in my opinion.

Mainly though, this is just a drawing to show my appreciation for ~riftryu 's amazing work on my character and, as always, I will repay her with a drawing more fitting of this character, as well as both ~riftryu 's and my own talent.......... on Bristol Board of course...

Five is
Art is mine.

It's my twiiiin!!

You remind me of myself sometimes xD You need to perk up thine self-esteem :3 this is totally bad@$$, and you have a way with shading and fine lineart that I - well, I just plain suck at it 8D

Unrefined sketch? My foot! I would consider this a fine peice, and should not under no circumstances be scrapped D8 Insane detail and texture, my man - with depth that few can achieve in, as you say, such a brief sitting. Along with battling such a disagreeable paper! 8C

I salute you one-hundred percent. Incredible work =3

Who's your character? I wants to draw toooooo (wants to draw everyone's characters because she's a twit)

Haha... Wow, what an unexpected response...

Thanks for the super long comment and all the compliments... :3 It means a lot, especially coming from you. I look up to you in a lot of ways with art, yanno. You've got a lot of what I want in my own artwork, and today, I was drawing some quadrupeds for the first time and I looked at your art for reference. I'll be honest, I never respected feral artwork as much as I have today, it's so much different from what I'm used too, and I think I will devote a lot more effort to that type of artwork from now on...

Anyways, that's kinda sidetracking... Thanks for the love and wanting to draw my character... but this wasn't my character here... it was ~riftryu 's and was a return gift for all the wonderful art she's been making of my own character... I took a lot of artistic liberties when making this though, so don't expect the exact same things in her renditions of Five...

If you want to see some of my characters, I have a couple that my friends made up for me... you can see them in my shout box.

Sarah "Midnight" Freeman and Aurum are my only characters in there though. Eh, and I'm not encouraging you to draw my characters, but if you have questions, I'll answer them. I like talking about my guys...

Lupinator In reply to Luna-v [2007-03-28 15:06:27 +0000 UTC]

You have no idea how upset I was... what's worse is that it was deleted along with everything else that I had stored on that computer... Songs, my personal website design, pictures and art, some of my old art that I only had a digital version of...

I wanted to attack innocent kittens with my teeth after that, but I've gotten over it now... and I have my own computer this time, so it's not going to be so easily deleted.

If you want the low-down on my characters, you can just ask specifically... So far, I have three I like to use:

One is an anthro named Sarah Freeman (a.k.a. Midnight or Emmy by a deceased few).
Then I have a demon gal (with three different forms) named Aylet. She's pretty hardcore.
And finally, my fursona (because I'm pretty much forced to have one...) named Aurum who comes in both feral and anthro form. Some people have drawn him, but I haven't before.

I'm still kinda more interested with Midnight, as felines are more my thing than anything else

Lupinator In reply to Luna-v [2007-04-05 17:30:05 +0000 UTC]

Midnight is by and far my favorite and oldest character. She's the one that had the novel and everything.

I'm trying to think of things to say about her, but I couldn't start without getting locked into writing several paragraphs... She has a lot of ideas to play around with though, and boasts a very in-depth personality... very dependant of what part of your life you want to draw her in. She can be quiet and serene, almost doll like, and then a ruthless murderer with blood drenched fur... She has some neat armor to work with if you draw her in her younger days... or can be portrayed as basically a one armed urban samurai in another portion of her life... She's an ex-military weapon in a post-apocalyptic, she's the only one of her kind on earth so she's tormented with her own loneliness as well as the repeated attempt on her life... jeezes... I'm done talking now...

xDD wow...she sounds almost as multi-layered as Jui...who is part of so many things and has so many faces it would take an encyclopedia to explain it all :\

You could email me your several paragraphs...or small novella...info-pack of Midnight =3 She sounds like a fun character to dabble in and learn about...

Lupinator In reply to Luna-v [2007-04-10 13:33:08 +0000 UTC]

I sent the stupid description... Thanks for taking away an hour or so of my life... :{

She's not entirely feline btw... She's just a compilation of superior animals and happened to take on a more feline image...

I'll break it down for you quickly:
Face + eyes = domestic kitty
Ears = Foxy
Main torso = human
Tail = husky
legs = big cat

The claws on her toes can retract, but not on her hands. She has black skin which shows up on the palms of her hands (she has palms like a human, not paw pads) her nose, private areas, insides of her ears, etc... Her fur is blue, which is the bas color for her head hair too, which actually grows lighter as it get longer. Her main body fur is about two inches long... and about an inch long in the front...

Yanno... you're just trapped me.... I love to talk about my character... and now you're going to make art for it... and I think I remember saying that I didn't want you to draw me art for nothing... and I can't make art for you right now... T_T

If it's any release, I'll just work on it on my free time. It'll take like a year and a half anyway

Lol, it's kinda like with Jui. She's a shapeshifter, that keeps snakelike characteristics n stuff in all forms. Like forked tongue, slit pupils, retractable fangs, hindge jaw....a tail rattle....xD all that.

I know it wasn't drawn well, or even shows up well in the photo, but she actually has a few cuts... On on her inner thigh and another running down her torso too... that's why her clothes are parted like that...

Ahhaaa, you're too good Byran, I think you put yourself down a bit too much.
This is far too lovely to go into scraps. The detail and shading you've done here looks great. You can tell what texture is furry and what texture is clothing. The perspective is interesting too, but hey, that makes it INTERESTING.
Excellent job, sir.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lupinator In reply to Redracat [2007-03-18 06:13:17 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not exactly me putting myself down, it's more like me rarely being content. I can look at this and see a lot of mistakes, or things that werem't conveyed right, a small part of that has to do with the paper I was using, but I've found that when I ask people to be honest with me, they can pretty much highlight all the reasons I wasn't too happy with many parts of it. The one thing I can be happy about is that this type of perspective work falls rather far from my expertese... and any success in this regard is still success... It's not perfect but it's progress, ya get me? So there are a few things I'm happy about, but I don't really feel it's a true representation of what I'm capable of, so that's why I'm not satisfied.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

bramblecat [2007-03-15 21:38:46 +0000 UTC]

Pretty damn cool per' usual - shading is amazing - perspective is a little confusing to me as to what's going on with the legs/tail/depth of field.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lupinator In reply to bramblecat [2007-03-16 14:29:36 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I'm really no good at the perspective work... but it's something I'm trying hard to work on, since I feel it really helps you to understand your anatomy better and is kind of a mark of professionalism in my eyes. What I was going for here was kind of a "fisheye" effect... where the pelvic area was the most pronounced and closest to the viewer and the rest of the features kinda faded back... Obviously, if I have to explain things I feel I kinda failed in those respects... Also, the shading was lame too, because it also caused a lot of confusion with certain details... Like the cut down the torso is actually a cut and not some sorta happy trail like others are lead to believe... I tried to make it more obvious with the necklace, top of the pants, and pants string being cut but if it's something that you have to fight to figure out, it's a failure nonetheless... Most of the shading complications I'm willing to blame on the paper though... whateva...

I rambled pretty fiercely there... but thanks for the comment and feedback, I really appreciate that.

Wow! {Why the hell can't I fave this?! Grrr... DA is seemingly pissing me about today.}

Btw, rrrr, regardless of DA acting up on my computer, it's good to see another upload from you, and as always, you show your keen eye for detail. This is awesome and I love the perspective of this picture. The way you've drawn the neck and chin just emphasizes the way the character is 'looking down'.

*Erhum*, you know what I'm like with comments... I just can't write anything as lengthy as you do, so I'll end by saying that this, is a wonderful piece of art and that you should be proud of it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lupinator In reply to Leopreston [2007-03-10 18:05:29 +0000 UTC]

I've had that happen to me too, where I couldn't fav something... I came back and it let me... But I'm not encouraging you to fav this...

Well, I'd update a heck of a lot more if I had about a hundred different things going better for me these days... no matter though, it's all likely to embarrass me anyways...

As for the detail, there's a popular saying that details hide poor artwork... I know this to be true... and frankly, I whore this tactic...

The thing is, much of the time I just don't notice the flaws until I've scanned the bugger in or something like that... For some reason when you flatten the image out like that, it really helps to highlight the errors (or maybe, look at it more objectively?)... I think I might use that to my advantage from now of though... I'll take a picture of my sketch work and then work on it from there...

Yeah, that's what this was mainly, a perspective practice drawing. I kinda wanted to fish eye the thing starting at the middle... if you want to get imaginative it'd be kinda like you're looking at her while on your knees or something I guess... The one thing that people I liable to mistaken is that tuff of fur as her collar bone... Anyways, I really want to get into working perspectives now because that's kinda what all the professionals do and it really forces you to your anatomy and everything...

Yeah, yeah... don't worry about the long replies... It's no fault of yours but mine... I feel like I have to say a billion words to ever get my point across... If you ever want to talk like me just remember to talk about everything and anything... to an annoying degree... see... I already totally beat out your comment.

Anyways, I suppose this is as good a place as any to tell you this, but as opposed to how much my recent journal makes it seem like a variable, I doubt I’ll be on really all that much anymore… and I’ll probably be missing any chance to speak with you on YIM after maybe the 13th… So you take care now. I'm not making any promises or telling you how long this'll last though, you know how much things change around for me here...

O_O...congratulations, you've just made me mentally scream like a teenage fan on a concert...
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE E!
Khm, I mean...wow. Seriously- wow. I can't think of anything inteligent to say...
Simply great. The perspective (I have absolutely no idea about foreshortening, but the tail looks amazing to me) really makes it interesting, and all those details on her outfit...the shading. Yes, the shading is so very smooth and different in every appropriate area. And that leathery-like outfit under the trouser and t-shirt- you managed to make it look like a leather! I mean- it's almost impossible with the digital media and you did it with pencil...+100 respect and admiration points . Plus I want a pair of gloves like those...

Every time I scroll up I notice something new and interesting. It's awesome! I feel so small as an artist now...but strangely it's a good feeling at the moment xD

You did a fantastic job on her- when it comes to face it's Five all around- it's even closer to what I imagine (when I think about her front view) than I can do (haah, me and my unability to draw anything in the front view XD). Though, when looking at her body and her figure- she looks older than she's now *has an urge to poke those earrings*. And..I have to say it...hot, and it's something really rare (if not impossible XD) for Five. I love it :'3

It looks very professional and I mean it. I'm honoured that someone did a drawing like that for me. Thank you, thank you thank you!

BUT I still love the previous two sketches as well. And I will print them as soon as possible along with this one

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lupinator In reply to riftryu [2007-03-09 07:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Haha, glad you like it then! I can see a lot of flaws, some obvious, so not so obvious... and it was really hard to shade this because the paper wasn't good for that... The main thing is that I had a hard time making things appear obvious in this... like some of the details get confused... or people don't recognize things for what they are... Over-all though... this is about average for me... and I pretty much hate all my artwork so there is no satisfying me anyways...

As for that leather... it's tough stuff... but I've been drawing leather for a while now, and since I tend to have a very shiny style of shading, it works for me... I wouldn't call is realistic looking though...

Haha, I always hate it when people feel lesser than me because of my art... that's never my intent and most of the time I feel the exact same way when I look at their art... The drawings you made me were just so amazing...

I think I kinda took some artistic liberties when it came to drawing your character though... I'm very surprised you liked he face though... because I didn't think that part was very good... haha. Well, I'm happy that it worked out... Five's face is very interesting... it's kinda like a mix between a tiger, lynx, and rodent (maybe? well, that's what the ears remind me off for some reason)... so I just kinda thought of those animals when I drew this...

As for her body... yeh... I drew her looking very mature... Partially because that makes her look more badass... maybe... but I think she looks more mature because I drew her with big boobs... which was probably pretty sinful of me... I know... But it was because I wanted to draw her looking hot and mature and confident... because you drew my character looking pretty shmexy too, lol, so I had to do it... And it's funny because I thought it was impossible to draw my character hot too... haha...

I think it's pretty hilarious that you'd call this professional though! I was just talking to my friend yesterday how this was amateur at best... and she at least agreed that it wasn't professional looking...

AND NOOOOO!!! Don't print these! It'll look like such crap! I'll send you the original when I manage to get around to drawing and shipping off the real piece I mean to draw for you... someday... :C

Anyways, I'm really glad you like this though, makes me smile a lot C: Take care.

That's silly, 'cause it doesn't take in time or familiarity; if you spend ages on a familiar character, it's gonna be better than a later drawing that took less time, and/or of an unfamiliar character.
