"Hello, I am Dr. Ponza," the young man adjusts his glasses as he speaks, "I do not know the circumstances as to how you wound up at these facilities. Maybe you volunteered, maybe somebody volunteered you, maybe you were sentenced to come here for some crime, maybe you were just chosen randomly off the street. Regardless of how you wound up here, you are indeed here now, and that's what really matters. You shall be one of many test subjects in what has come to be known as the Kormus project." He pauses, grabbing a stack of manila envelopes and setting them out on the table you're sitting at. Each one labeled with a number 1 to 7. "Consider this your first test," he explains as he steps back. "One of these envelopes has further information on the project. Another has information on how one can go about releasing themselves from this facility. Yet another will award you with commodities that most other subjects would not be allowed to have. Another punishes you. And the others may be blank, or hide a secret I will not even hint at." You can see he's holding back a smirk as you study the envelopes in front of you. "Go on ahead, take your pick..."
-----
As opposed to my normal roleplay prompts where I have several different prompts to choose from, this is a singular, story driven prompt. However, the way it is designed allows for things to be more open ended and hopefully unique. The Kormus Project can be anything from making military super soldiers, trying to get to another dimension, growing kaiju, making humans into AI, anything! You can also leave it up to me and make it so that you're going in just as blind as your character. It leaves things open in terms of what transformation happens. As you can see, this is a prompt more focused on one main character than two, meaning I will be playing most of the side characters. There may be cases where you'll play a character or two that isn't your character, but other than that, it'll mostly be me leading the story, whatever story comes up. Now, for ideas where you eventually leave the facility, the structure of sharing roles may become more balanced, especially if you go with another test subject. Length of the roleplay will vary, it can either be rather short or a long one. It all just depends!
What do you have to do to get into this roleplay? Well, fill out this nifty little form of course!
Character Name:
Brief Description of Character: (if you're playing yourself and we rp frequently, we can skip this)
Preferred Transformation:
Preferred Trigger: (what kind of testing causes the transformation)
Preferred Side Effects:
Envelope Number: (yes, the effects are all already predetermined for this
Not even going to hide a little proof of reading in the prompt this time, so don't worry about that! Now, my rules have always been pretty lax, but one rule that I will especially enforce for this one is post quality. If I'm going to be running this story, I don't want really short responses all the time, give me something to work off of! You can have a short one here or there, but on average you should be aiming for at least a sentence or two. And no "*I run down the stairs*", paragraph style only.
Hope that we have some fun testing, and remember to choose wisely!

After a few minutes the wall opens again. A female squeal is heard as the rabbit with the Victorian clothes spills out onto the floor.

I watch her anxiously as she gets back up, as I'm sure everyone else does from being on edge in this separate space. That should be eight of us now, so half way there at least. I really do start to worry and wonder what things are like in there. If whatever they injected us with slowly starts taking effect people could already be starting to show some symptoms, as if things probably aren't already crazy enough in there. I wait for the rabbit to wonder over a bit closer, before asking, "So, what are things like in there now? I'm guessing just getting crazier as people finish?"

She nods, smoothing out her waist coat. "Yeah," her voice comes off in a soft, British accent. Why she's in a man's outfit isn't quite clear but at least you don't think she's another victim of gender change. "Im glad I took pen and paper... at least three more tablets got smashed out there..."
(Something else you avoided with a lucky roll!)

( Luck seems to be on my side... for now. ^^ Also though, do I still have the tablet with me or did I have to hand it in after finishing the questions?)
"Ouch... Yeah, with time going by and everyone's emotions on edge I'm sure people are really going to start flipping out as things get down to the wire. Kinda makes me glad we aren't in there to get jumped by people who don't get one or anything like that." I comment to her.
"So, um, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get such a fancy getup? I mean, it just seems odd given they put the rest of us in these drafty hospital gowns." I try to politely ask her, though am quite curious myself.

"Oh uh, my testing was... weird... hallucinogens and Alice in Wonderland..." she rubs the back of her head. "I was pulled right out of the test and into that room... I notice a few people aren't in gowns..." she says, pointing at the satyr. "Maybe some of those who were in the middle of tests weren't given a gown?"

I ponder to her. "I mean, they probably had to cancel it postpone the 15 tests they were already doing so what, they could have us all take a quiz?"

"I'm not going to pretend like I have the answer," she says with a shrug. "I've only just shaken my hypnotic triggers to keep checking my pocketwatch, so it's safe to say even if I knew what was happening, I wasn't of the proper mental state at the time," she chuckles dryly, sitting in one of the chairs and crossing her arms. "But yeah, seeing as what's happened to you and some of the others they've already experimented on, I have no idea how they could possibly let people back into the free world after becoming such strange creatures, or possibly sharing what they're doing here. If we're going to leave this place, it's probably going to have to be by force..."

"It was all twins actually," she explains. "At least, I think so... maybe they just looked similar, but everybody seemed to have a sibling." She is rather relaxed about the whole ordeal, perhaps because it was all a surreal drug trip to her? Or maybe she just isn't easily offput. "Originally she was going to be the March Hare but at the last second they decided to mix up the sibling pairs for added interesting interactions. Was a cointoss to see which of us would stay a rabbit."

Like, what's even the point of that, making a bunch of twins into characters from a children's book?" I try to reason out, just finding this whole scenario nonsensically hilarious. Things pass by in awkward silence as more and more people trickle into the room. A small group makes up the next three entrants, followed up by another one ten minutes after than and one more after another half an hour. When this fourteenth person walks in, they look absolutely exhausted, slumping over in the far corner of the room and falling asleep. An hour passes and the fifteenth person doesn't walk in, most everybody keeps waiting, glancing over at the wall now and again only to find nothing changed. By the time another thirty minutes have passed, the wall moves, however, it's the doctor.
Somebody jumps up, lunging at the doctor with a look of pure malice in his eyes. Without as much as a raised eyebrow the doctor pulls a pistol from his coat pocket and aims it at the man. The subject pauses in terror as he falls backwards, scooting back to the other end of the room with a defeated whimper. Ponza sighs, sliding the gun back into his coat before addressing the fourteen of you. "All other subjects at this time are incapable of finishing their test," he explains in a cold tone.

Even just sitting and waiting endlessly in this small side room is draining, hearing the echoing mania and chaos from the room adjacent keeping the lot of us on edge. Eventually, I just try to cover my ears and put my head down to try and rest, not knowing how long until I get the chance to again until finally, the commotion of the doctor reentering gets me back up.
As Ponza so calmly makes the motion to pull something out of his coat I'm not really shocked at first, until recognizing it and the realization he has a gun sets in and makes me jolt attentive in my chair, just hoping he doesn't notice me or point it my way. Hearing that the rest of the test subjects won't make it is frightening to hear, but at least 14 out of 15 isn't too bad losses wise given how many people used the tablets. I sit and wait quietly to hear whatever other news or plans he has for us who made it.

"Those of you who passed have two options: First, you may return to your testings, or continue waiting for your test to start in some of your cases. Or, you may continue in a group setting consisting of test subjects in this room that will most likely lead into a new line of testing for you, individual or group has not been determined at this time. Leaving the facility is not an option. If less than 7 of you choose to join the group, then no group shall be made and you will all return to individual testing. However..." he pauses for a moment, to get people anxious. "Exactly one of you who choose original testing will be sent back to society, chosen at random from those who decide to return to their tests."
Hushed murmurs begin going through the room as peoples' glances begin looking around the room. The satyr's goat ears perk up at hearing that one person will get to leave. The rabbit you've been speaking with offers no obvious reactions, from the looks of it she's running through something in her head. When you first saw her in the main waiting area, she seemed so distant and spacey, but now she seems so... analytical. You can only wonder how quickly she would have been done with that quiz if her mind was at full capacity at the start... and how much of a handicap those hypnotic triggers and hallucinogens must have been...

I let out a deep flustered breath at hearing his whole spiel of the choices and incentives behind them and lean over shaking my head to think for myself. Just at face value it seems to present a challenging scenario where the best option seems to depend on what everyone else picks. At least from what I've seen thus far in group testing I have a much lesser chance of being singled out and changed along the lines of one of their sick fantasies like the rabbit girl clearly had to deal with, and yet might have to deal with more of this chaotic infighting and pitting people against each other to avoid further changes. But then, that chance to actually leave unharmed is pretty tempting seeing all the ways this place can mess a person up. With that in mind I cast my glance around the room to try and see what the others might be favoring.
The satyr sure seems excited by the prospect of getting to leave, but seeing what all they've already done to him I feel like it's too little too late. Besides, it could be just as likely that the doctors lying and they'd never let someone they've experimented on leave for free to return as proof of the horrible things they're doing here. Honestly, I doubt it more than anything. Looking around further I meet eyes with the rabbit just briefly as she seems just as deep in thought as me. It's such a shame what they've been trying to do to her, and I honestly hope she doesn't go back to those mind games if she can help it. For me I just feel like a wildcard in all of this, not even knowing what my personal experiment is or what I'm risking. Instead, I look to the doctor for any tells he might give, or hope to see if he might be open to taking some questions into the nature of this continued group testing.

If the rabbit was hard to read, Dr. Ponza is impossible to gauge. Never once have you been able to truly glean anything from his face, the closest you ever getting are half tells and mixed signals. His poker face would trump most professional poker players, and even as he continues toying with your life and the lives of everybody else in this room there's nothing. Does he love this? Is this just a job to him? Does he feel empathy? You can't say, it's almost as scary as these experiments how distant he is. You have practically no doubt that if that man had continued trying to attack, he'd have killed him without a word.
"You have one hour before I return and cast my votes. You will find refreshments in the next room over, it's unlocked now." says Ponza before abruptly leaving through the wall.

I scowl under my breath, disappointed at having no real clue at what Ponza's goals for us could be or what he's trying to get at with all this. Even so, if there is any third option to escape this mess it's by going through or getting through to him, somehow...
It is rather relieving to hear we have a whole hour to ourselves to sort things out now, as any time not being experimented on is a blessing. Not to mention having Pinza finally leave us is a huge relief of tension at least for me. "So, uh, anyone have some initial thoughts on our choice?" I quick just try to throw out there while everyone still in one place. Sure it's not the boldest thing to say at a time like this, but part if me just hopes I ended up with decent people who might be open to plotting this out as a group and use our numbers to our advantage.

There's a lot of shifty glances as people study both you and the situation. Some people just don't answer, many more focused on the adjoining room with refreshment.

What would people do if they saw you walking about and confirmed who you used to be, hun?" I explain while turning to the Satyr for the last bit. "Even if it is a legitimate offer, will they really choose someone randomly or pick them with a motive behind it? I mean, I just really don't trust that guy..."

Heading over to the table I grab a water bottle, or maybe even some juice if they have it along with maybe some crackers or something filling. As I notice the rabbit checking her pocketwatch I'm a tad concerned for her, but at least she doesn't seem anxious or worried about being late. "Keeping track of time for us I see? "Well, the doctor said that nobody else was capable of finishing their tests. And seeing as how the pen and paper test allowed for you to get new copies whenever, something happened to those two test takers. One could assume it was because of the mental effects of the drugs, but he said that the fox was ready to take the test even after twice as much exposure time. So it wasn't that they lost their minds," she explains this softly, as if to not alert anybody else to the conversation.

If not losing their minds, perhaps then 'losing their bodies'- if somehow they were changed physically in a way they couldn't even fill out the piece of paper anymore." I postulate to her with a shrug just as one possibility. "Then again, seeing as those last few people were beaten up so badly and talked of others purposely smashing tablets, the other 14 people with busted tablets could have resorted to violence on those two as revenge so no one finished. Or of course, the good old Doctor could have just been lying." I add in as well, being the only three scenarios I can personally think of.

"I don't think his drugs would have caused such intense physical changes, at least not so quickly." she retorts. "Once again, that fox fellow was 4 hours in and he was fully capable of taking the test. And the doctor hasn't lied yet, I think something about all of this would be null and void if he wasn't generating genuine reactions and such... I think that at least two people were killed out there."

As she mentions these last few words my eyes go wide and I look up to her, before quickly trying to calm down so no one gets interested in our conversation. "Killed?!" I whisper back to her under my breath to quiet my exclamation. "You really think the rest of those guys would do something like that? I mean... I was just figuring they got beat up pretty bad or knocked out, but not killed over some quiz!" I tell her as I uneasily look back out over the floor of the room, trying to pick out any signs of blood or struggling that could show such violence took place.

"I considered a knock out or something, but they'd be technically able to continue their test when they woke up," she explains in a hushed tone. "The doctor said that they couldn't finish at all. Thankfully the long delay between the fourteenth test subject and him telling us that nobody else can finish probably means that any killer would still be in that room. Unless somebody in here killed somebody, then a second killing happened eliminating the last pen and paper test taker. But that's less likely. If you ask me, those left in there without a tablet adopted an 'I'm taking you down with me' mentality towards the last person who still stood a chance at salvation..." She seems rather calm about this, stating this all rather confidently as she sips at her tea. This and her outfit gives you a real Sherlock Holmes vibes.

Looking back down gloomily, I sigh and realize she must be right. "Y-yeah, I suppose you're right. It does make the most sense that they d-died, somehow." I worriedly admit, as I try to recall a few of those faces who got left behind and try to imagine who would really have gone so far, if not simply a mob mentality. "Do you really think they chose murder on their own like that? Maybe it really was the drugs kicking in, making them violent or temperamental. That fox guy was all restrained like some rabid dog or psych patient after all, even if he could still function and fill out the test." I offer, trying to find some way to reason why the others would do such a thing.
