Description
This idea was suggested by , to which I tried my best to illustrate. Credit for the idea belongs to him. (I will now state who gave the idea, unless it was sent by note. Can't have people thinking I'm the creative one!)Here we have Sami, from the Advance Wars series, shackled to some goofy looking tank (Because I can't draw anything other than humans at all. And I can hardly draw humans!). You might also notice she's wearing some sort of band around her head. What is it, you ask? It's taking the tactical strength of Sami and using it to pilot the tank, against Sami's will. Not that Sami knows what's going on, she happens to be masked (which I hope looks decent). You'll also notice she's wearing some funky panties. They're mechanical, and they're to help with waste disposal and such, so I guess Lash plans to keep Sami on her newest invention for some time.
Speaking of Lash, ain't she adorable over there? Her genius invention will be perfect against the Orange Star army, unless they want to risk counter-attacking and harming one of their most precious Commanding Officers (That's Sami)! You're so clever Lash. And mean. And I approve!
Why Sami and not, say, someone who's actually SKILLED with tanks? Advance Wars fans may know that Sami's specialty is with foot soldiers, not with planes or tanks or boats. Well there's three reasons why Sami.
1) Pixel-Inquisitor wanted Sami (probably because she was the only one on my list).
2) Nobody would want to see Max with mechanical metal panties. Not me at least.
3) It's more embarrassing for Orange Star to be defeated by a tank that's pathetic compared to theirs!
Any way, I like how this picture came out, and I got to play around with Photoshop stuff a bit. I hope others may be able to enjoy it, too!
This idea was suggested in my journal --> [link]
If you'd like to suggest your own idea, please read the whole journal!
Lash and Sami are © to Nintendo/Advance Wars.
As usual, I'll be accepting requests for edits if anyone wants them. As a bonus, I did one edit beforehand that I think most people might prefer anyways.

wow, no offense Lure but I see alot of love loss on this one, that tank is blocky as hell, that Chibi looks like a dude and that mask is very plain, I like the idea and the work you did on Sami because she had a nice look about her and you kept her most important features there but shoving her in a tank half naked with pretty much not protection what so ever so she can forcibly drive a wheel-less tank and kill her troops I asume? well knowing the game even if that thing had a health of 50 it wouldn't take much to bring it down since it looks like all it has are Mini gun and what look like Torpedos. I know this was a commison meaning this was someone elses idea but I cant help but feel like you didn't really get into this one, id like to hear your side of things

LureDA In reply to Gojiro7 [2009-01-27 04:51:30 +0000 UTC]
Not true at all. It wasn't a commission either, it was a simple suggestion that I thought was clever when I read it. I didn't have to draw this, I did so completely because I wanted to.
I'm sorry that you don't like it, though. I admit the tank is horrid, I've admitted that many times now . I've not had much practice drawing anything but humans, and that will cost me in the long run greatly.
However, I think the main difference is that you're viewing this more grimly than I am. In my mind, since Advance Wars is quite cartoony and happy, Sami will be saved in the end and Lash will go back to her lair to plot something else, and everything will turn out alright. Then again, if the picture looks grim, than that is my fault. I tried to give it a more happy feeling with the chibi/hysterics Lash in the corner.
Again, I'm sorry it's not your thing, and I am trying to try new things that will hopefully appeal to certain people. I'm trying to make something for everyone, but just one picture at a time .
I hope I was able to clear things up, if anything.

hmm i didnt know that, well its alright, yes its a bad tank but practice makes perfect its just an odd design no matter what, it looks more like something from GI Joe.
except for the last one they do have a posative charm but without explaining what will happen she looks like an easy Target, i like the ones without the mask because Sami's pissed off expresion really says alot
well you cant please everyone so dont go thinking you can, Just be happy with it with those who do like it.

Yeah, I at least knew most people wouldn't like the default version, so I took the time to make an alternate version showing her pants on, and the mask off. I figured everyone who didn't like the default version might at least like that one.
The characters I'm looking for suggestions for are all in my journal. You're more than welcome to suggest an idea for any of them if you'd like, Gojiro . Just make sure to read the journal~

You know, that reminds me of one of the alternate suggestions I gave on how Lure could illustrate the tank. Namely a modern version of this: [link]
But still... That's a pretty sweet idea! A damn cool idea, honestly. I might just have to steal it for a commission somewhere down the line.

probably. although for the captive infantry it should prbably be more form fitting, rather than ride-armour scale, perhaps fem-bot with camera-eye between the breasts (to be nicely positioned amidst captive vitals), and the upper half of the face open to reveal the -very- nervous and struggly prisoner
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Pixel-Inquisitor In reply to kite-san [2009-01-26 20:51:47 +0000 UTC]
Indeed. I agree with form fitting. I'm thinking exoskeleton. Almost a bare framework holding the captive in place. Or perhaps steal an idea from a previous commission of mine, and have a simple metal collar that overrides all muscle control, leaving the victim a prisoner in her own mind. Or heck, some from column A, some from column B.
I can see not a lot of people agree, but I find the full-face mask I went with here fascinating in bondage. Especially if it's applied to an entire platoon of faceless soldiers. On the other hand, seeing the faces, and especially the eyes, of the captives does have considerable appeal... I'm kind of divided as to which one to go for. Or, again, mix it up... Damn, this is a great idea! I hope you don't mind if I steal it for a potential future commission.

long as it goes up somewhere i can see it, why would i mind? ~_^
the main reason i'd leave the eyes exposed is we're now doing a horde of captives. there's no way for all of them to be bodily recognizeable unless one leaves their old uniforms on. similarly, the total body control collars remove the struggly element, and thus remove the visual proof that they're actually being controlled.
probably the most visceral way to show it if one went with the faceless option would be to have two or three restraining an "enemy" while a fourth is dragging over an additional harness... ~_^

It'd probably need a strap under the chin or around behind her neck like a ballgag to make sure it stayed in place, but otherwise, she can breathe through her nose, and the mask is excellent!

Effin' SWEET, man! This is seven flavors of awesome!
I am honoured that you accepted my idea and illustrated it. And I must say, I love your little description as to why strap Sami to a tank. (Reason 3 made perfect tactical in-game sense... and Reason 2 was good for a laugh, and a few retches.)
You've even got Lash laughing in the corner like any good evil genius. And don't be too hard as to the design of the tank. Given the cartoony nature of Advance Wars, I say it fits perfectly.
Design-wise, I could say that Sami looks a little off kilter there, not quite lined up and symmetrical with the tank. But looking closer, I see she's not completely anchored in, so that just shows she's been struggling. The tank itself actually doesn't look too bad, really. Everything seems to line up A-OK. So good job on that. Especially with trying something you're not used to. Shows your willingness to learn.
Sure, I would have liked Sami to be anchored down a little more. But really, like I said before, I can't complain, because you're doing this for free. And, as I said above, I'm honoured that you even decided to draw it. Thank you very much. I still enjoy this piece greatly.

LureDA In reply to Pixel-Inquisitor [2009-01-26 04:32:48 +0000 UTC]
Well that's what matters the most. I would have liked to get her a bit more restrained myself, but the pose was difficult in itself, but drawing the tank was horrific! Not that I'm trying to make excuses or anything. I happen to quite like the other recent idea you suggested, so I'll be sure to have that damsel as helpless as possible in an attempt to make up for this one. When I get to it is another question, as I need to be fair and switch it up at least a bit .
I'm glad you enjoy the picture, and I appreciate the honest critique and commentary. Thank you for suggesting an idea that sparked my interest quite immediately!

Pixel-Inquisitor In reply to TheAnoraknophobe [2009-01-26 04:29:17 +0000 UTC]
Well, the initial design I gave LureDA was this: [link]
It's from the Tabletop miniature game Warhammer 40,000. It's called the Talos. (I think it's just Talos, not Talos Tank.) When communicating with LureDA, I usually called it the Talos Tank for short. Though I said he could design the tank however he wants to.
Soo... Talos, perhaps?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TheAnoraknophobe In reply to Pixel-Inquisitor [2009-01-26 04:34:31 +0000 UTC]
*slaps his head* The TALOS! I KNEW it looked familiar!
(...I was never entirely sure about how that damned thing worked. I mean, did people get dragged inside, is there a rotating roster of slaves that get fed to the Talos? That might be, seeing as it's the closest thing to a Dark Eldar dreadnaught going...)
I wouldn't say Talos. I mean, the word derives from a legendary bronze man defeated by Medea and Jason, sort of like a golem or the first guard robot. He was defeated when Jason pulled a cork from his heel and all the life-giving ichor drained out, if I'm not mistaken.
My point is, apart from the similarity to the 40K piece, there's not a lot tying this thing to the actual Talos. Though since it's powered by poor Sami, maybe something more sinister...the Puppeteer, perhaps, or the Parasite? Maybe that one, since it implies an insectoid nature that hearkens to its scorpion-like appearance.

Pixel-Inquisitor In reply to TheAnoraknophobe [2009-01-26 04:46:22 +0000 UTC]
Ah, you're familiar with WH40K? I've had an idea like this floating around in the back of my mind ever since I read and saw the Talos. Tone down the horrible torture and certain death aspects, and it's an interesting bondage setup. Advance Wars provided a perfect setup for it, too. You have female characters, and a mad scientist, and open warfare that facilitates tanks. (And a cute female mad scientist.)
Lure mentioned that something like this may have been more suited for the Days of Ruin setting. In hindsight, he did have a point, (Especially as sticking Tasha in a tank would make better sense overall) though I still would rather see Sami in bondage... and Lash is cuter than Caulder.
Puppeteer? Parasite? You'se got some interesting ideas. Don't quite seem to fit, though... How about Brain Drain Tank? Kind of a mouthful, but certainly accurate and foreboding. The Cerebrix, if you really want to get fancy. (Though not necessailry descriptive...)
