Technique: During a fight, Torin tends to bolster his own confidence by being cocky. This is much like a bird flaring its plumage--Torin avoids fighting when he can, but isn't one to back down if threatened. He also enjoys a good sparring match.

Since deciding to take on the world by himself, Torin has had to learn the art of combat in the most extreme situation--life or death. He had no master or teacher, only his wits, courage, and lots of luck has gotten him to this point. Lots of luck. Speed and intelligence are his allies.

Torin fancies the bullwhip for his main weapon. It's sleek, quick, and relatively easy to hide. When a whip is not the best choice, he uses a short, curved sword which is strapped to his back. Torin is primarily right handed, but he can use both his weapons at once effectively.

For some reason, magicks have always come easily to Torin, but he's never had much interest in learning more than what just comes naturally. Wind is Torin's preference of magick when he chooses to use it, though his ability to conjure water has helped him survive the harsh environments. An effective technique he uses quite often is to combine his weapons with the energies, giving them a more potent hit. While he is definitely more efficient at offensive moves, Torin also can use his abilities for defensive shields and increased speed.

Zephyr Bolts Atk Power: Mag Power:
Raw power of wind takes form in short, purple beams of energy and is usually emitted from the hand or palm. This is a ranged attack and Torin uses quite frequently as a quick hitter for large or aerial opponents. He can fire up to 6 bolts in one round.

Infusing Aura Atk Power: | Mag Power:
As suggested, Infusing Aura is just that. Torin infuses the energy of the element of his choice (usually wind) into his whip or sword.

Forlorn Healing Atk Power: | Mag Power:
With his water element, Torin is able to heal another person's wound, poison, or ailment even if they are on the brink of death--but at a price. In exchange for his mercy, Torin is plagued with the pain and suffering of his target until the water energy inside him cleanses the problem. This can last from a few seconds to several hours. Needless to say, he only uses it in extreme circumstances.

Aerial Shield Atk Power: | Mag Power:
As the name suggests, Torin summons the power of wind in its natural form to swirl around him and a small party of people. A sphere of raging wind forms around them that can block most physical attacks. It is weak to magical assault.

Aizen's Blessing Atk Power: | Mag Power:
With the power of air as his ally, Torin can boost his speed and shorten movement time for a short period. He must be careful when performing this ability though, as it can be draining if he uses it too long or too many times in a day.

Vapor Twister Atk Power: | Mag Power:
Combining water and air, Torin is able to form a small set of whirlwinds. The droplets of water within the twister cut the skin, while the air creates a vacuum that sucks out the air from the open wounds. Up to three are created at once if using his hands, but one larger twister can be formed if he uses his whip in a circular motion.

Refreshing Breeze Atk Power: | Mag Power:
As the name suggests, a soothing breeze blows past Torin and his allies to boost them from weariness. This restoring wind can increase strength, speed, resolve and vitality.

Sonic Whiplash Atk Power: | Mag Power:
After Infusing Aura has been used on his whip, once Torin cracks it, the sonic boom launches a large crescent of wind energy towards the foe. The attack can be formed vertically or horizontally, depending on the angle of the whip's end. There is a chance that the enemy could be knocked back from this attack.

Personality: Torin can be both aloof and charismatic. His personality tends to shift depending on the types of people around him and how well he knows them. For the most part, he is well mannered with a dash of sarcasm. Torin has a soft spot for pretty girls, so ladies should be wary! He can be a bit boisterous--especially after a few drinks. However hard he tries when being serious he always wears his heart on his sleeve. Anyone could see past his 'cool' facade.

While friendly to some people, Torin is slow to trust. He is not naive enough to put his fate into others' hands willingly. Traveling alone, for the most part, has put him into an awkward position when meeting others. It is difficult for Torin to talk to new people, because he doesn't know how they might react. Depending on the situation, this could give off the impression that he is shy. Once you gain Torin's trust and loyalty he is very dependable and can be of some help in a pinch. He is not good at giving direct praise, especially to other males, but his kindness and gratitude are shown through his actions. But he never apologizes for anything. Ever. ("Saying 'sorry' is a sign of weakness.")

Torin appreciates things that are beautiful. From a sparkling necklace worth a fortune to a lovely smile on a pretty face, Torin has a gift for seeking out the beauty in nearly everything. It is this quality that gives him that spark, that desire, to keep finding shiny objects and exploring the world. He usually keeps these thoughts to himself though, as men who think thoughts like that are usually laughed out of pubs...

It's not all sunshine and rainbows with Torin, though. He is headstrong, occasionally arrogant, and dislikes receiving help from others. Being in someone's debt is not his cup of tea, so he will do nearly anything--and quickly--to relieve his conscience.

Background: Torin was born in Tenfana on the outskirts of the capital city, Halj, where he was raised by his mother mostly. His father was always out working so hard that he hardly ever had time for anything else. Torin did not begrudge him for this, but when he looks back on his childhood he does wish that they could have played the family role a bit better.

His father, Heimir of Al'gathad, was a glass smith with a successful career in Halj. Heimir had a talent for magicks as well, but unlike Torin, he worked hard to perfect his skills to help with his job. His father is rather religious, believing that everyone has a role in the greater scheme. He was gentle, intelligent, and soft spoken. Through commissions by nobles and many other customers, Heimir had been able to provide for his wife and son rather well over the years--thus enabling them to have a house with a bit of land on the outskirts of the city. Torin's family is not exactly 'well-to-do', but they are not dirt poor either. Sadly, Heimir died recently, due to his growing illness.

Torin's mother, Jordana Forseti, is a quite opposite yet complimentary to her husband, Heimir. She is quick witted, fiery, and is usually unable to bite her tongue when it comes to correcting Torin. Even though she stayed at home to raise their son, Jordana does crochet and sew rather well. When he was a child, she often would sit and watch Torin play while crocheting something to sell at the front of her husband's business. She and her son share a close relationship, but it usually comes off as snarky banter. Being the one who primarily raised him, Jordana has imposed several of her own ideals about the world to Torin. Many of his own beliefs come from her strong words and tongue lashings. She has Torin's ultimate respect, even if he doesn't always show it in the proper way that a son should. After watching her husband die over several months, the grief of Heimir's death caused her to say some harsh words to Torin. He has avoided going home since her letter.

Getting a job was never really one of Torin's priorities. His family wanted him to find a career in the city, for it had much to offer, but it just wasn't in the cards. Even though he wished to possess his father's hardworking soul, Torin is just too much of a free spirit. He vowed to always make time for himself and do what he loves. While this seems a great way to live at first, Torin's lifestyle has been a challenge. Learning to fight and fend for himself, especially in the rough patches of the western region, were direly necessary. So, in a sense, Torin works harder for his own life than his father ever did.

From a very young age, Torin enjoyed roaming the outsides of the city by himself or with a few friends, digging up bones, rubbish, or other "treasures" that laid hidden in the sandy terrain. Those hobbies carried into adulthood, only now his adventures lie far beyond the city of Halj. Torin could be considered a Ranger, a skilled survivalist and wanderer of Escantha

Torin is a simple man, but he does enjoy the finer things. His wayward lifestyle has not (yet) lead him to vast riches, but whatever money he does happen to earn (or find) he tends to spend it on indulging himself at the most lavish inns and delicious food and drink. Gambling is also a pastime of his when staying in a city. Since picking up monster bounty hunting, Torin has had more money to spare. Though, he still has no real land or property of his own.

Torin also likes animals, and has always been fond of birds. Occasionally his company is spent with a feral crow by the name of Myunin. Lysander, his stallion, was one that he purchased in Rindrir after saving up his monster hunting earnings. As far as fears go, Torin does not mind most insects, but he is petrified at the sight of spiders.
