yeah
i work with both species.. their facial structures look a lot alike if you just have pics of their heads. i have a few pics of red-tails in my gallery

Okay...I found a video fragment that shows the label for this fine bird. It is indeed a red-tailed hawk named "Cliff" born in 2004 in Virginia.

I was going by the label, but it sure looks a lot like this BLM photo of a Golden Eagle:

But it also looks a lot more like this photo of a Red-tailed Hawk:
[link]

So now I don't know what to think. It's definitely possible that I mixed up the correspondence between the photos and the labels.

Can anybody else confirm the correct species?

Thanks. The owner brings a truly magnificent collection of raptors to the local craft show each year, and I was able to get really close with my 18-85mm zoom (plus a 1.6 mag factor on the 20D).
