Description
This is how I would like to start off my contest. With an example!For the first category at least.
I created a creature based on a die. Hence the funny name.
When in form (like a die) they are the exact same size as a die. To get into form, they crouch down, pull legs tight along body, rotate front paws so blocky paws go toes-together. Most of the face is very flat, and the nose gets hidden when in form. Ears fold flat against body, as does the tail.
When in use they will be very tense, resulting in them being a perfect cube, making it very difficult to tell that they aren't indeed dice. Only a close inspection will they be noticed. The weight and texture of the body is near to identical to an actual plastic die.
So now, creature your creature!

This dice/creature idea is actually really creative. I'm not fully sure on how accurate your drawings are, considering the head is very flat and huge, yet in the side view is a little more curved. It looks like you got it very very close, though. That's difficult to do - awesome job!
I really like how you made the eyes a part of the dots. That was nice. The design itself is especially nice because you could see this sort of thing being built into a real life toy (like Transformers).
One of the small faults I would have to point out would be that the die isn't perfectly cubical. There are so parts where it's not even (such as the side views). If you could find a way to level your edges out more, it would improve the design and idea extremely. Also, on the side view, wouldn't the forepaws be sticking out? In the huge picture, it appears to be that the head is completely resting on the ground instead of his paws.
Also, just out of curiosity, is he a fuzzy die? ^^
Color schemes are good and the design, as I said before, looks to be very difficult, but well thought out. It definitely looks like a challenge. I'm looking forward to see how the contest goes. Keep up the good work. And I'm sorry again that I didn't get to critique a lot of your work for so long.

The way I had it planned out, the flat part of the head (from just below the eyes up to the forehead where the ears connect) would be exposed, being one of the flat faces of the die. Everything else, like the nose and mouth, would be hidden behind the paws when in form.
For the uneven views, the five at the bottom, I intended for those to kind of show when it was "looser". When they aren't totally tense and in form they let themselves fall out of that cubical shape, thats why I drew them kind of..bumpy. Like for the two side views, the head is starting to be pulled out, to reveal the rest of the face, so the rest of the body kind of tilts, at least until the rest of the body is out of form.
Mm no, actually the skin of this die creature is very similar to the usual plastic that normal dice are made out of. When out of form, its more like a softer skin, due to its muscles not being all tensed up, and when it is in form and tense, the skin pulls tighter across the creatures muscles, making it harder and more plastic-like.
But I kept forgetting that when I was shading this. Some spots make it look like fur, like around the eye area. That was my bad. x]
