Description
Heeere we go. Finished it up. I like it lots. This is actually a project for art class. We have to pick a theme and then create four pieces based on that theme, each using a different medium. I chose "eyes" for my theme. Come on, you know you're surprised. *eyeroll*
First up is a tree frog from the Borneo forest, reffed from the cover of a National Geographic.
This one is done with pencil crayons. I'm thinking for the others I'm using acrylics, watercolour and then mixed media.
Enjoy folks! Comments are mighty appreciated!

I really like how this turned out. The eye itself is gorgeous, I love the serious expression it holds. The scales are my favourite, they look so shiny and wet and their is such a realism to the skin overall. I really like the shadowy shading on the whole piece as well.

It was pretty fun doing the scales, I hardly followed the ref at all. Loose motions, then they were reinforced and added to.
Thanks <3<3

The only suggestion I have is to have a bit more contrast on the wrinkles underneath the eye since the yellow dominates the piece. Overall, great use of the media! I love how you can actually see individual scales fade into a smoother texture - its adds a sense of depth that would not have been there before

Ah, now that you point that out, I feel like I need to fix it now. At least I haven't handed it in yet, I'll still get a chance to touch that part up.
Thanks!

I love how some of the scales around the eye have a little shine to them. <3 They look so glossy!
And of course...that eye is so beautifully detailed. <333 The little veins add a great unique touch!

Yeah those little wet spots were a last minute thing with white acrylic paint.
Thanks!
