Because shining armor, and Cadance, and the big and heavy shield. One of the strongest shields in Equestria.Every time I draw a shield I think of a guy on youtube that has a thing for shields.
The next time he appears...well, he would be an ero-protag.

Hmm ... given how modern the clothes of the Mane 6 look like, I'd have put Shining Armor here in modern-style combat uniform, with full equipment on. Or in a service uniform with a sidearm in a holster.

I dunno. I just like armor. Or maybe that armor is a part of his power. For me, he's basically a Paladin/Shieldmaster.
I haven't thought of an uniform.....yet.

Maybe ... hmm ... let's see ... he's a Royal Guardsman, and it can be safely assumed it is some elite unit.
Since Equestria's ruled by two Goddesses Princesses, maybe taking the UK Guard's units' uniforms and insignias as models.
Just a suggestion, of course. They look good, I think.
Plus, SA uniform at his wedding was inspired by the ceremonial uniform of an officer from a British Army Irish regiment, if I'm not mistaken.

Most guards are in medieval style gear, even in the war in that alternate timeline. Even though the pegusi had a more modern looking getup. I think you're just forbidden from caring what era the ponyverse is actually set in. I think of it as largely medieval technology, but with more sophisticated medicine and at least modern sewing machines.

It's so nice to see that Shining Armor wasn't forgotten. That big shield is appropriate as Shining's talent in the series seems to be related to protection/shielding.

You're right, but Shiny is specialized in defense, so he doesn't have to use something more than a normal sword
