Not a photo. It is rendered 3D computer graphics
I added grain and dirt effects with Photoshop to make it look like an old photo

Nice one. Speaking about models, I used to build WW1 & WW2 planes (full frame balsa wood & fabric) by Guillows that actually flew. Not sure if Guillows still offers the ones I built as they required "dope" to stiffen the fabric. Great fun. Also built a host of as well as pre-WW2 plastic ship models and auto exotics. Great fun, but frustration as well as parts didn't always fit properly. Thank you Xacto.

Edit: "Also built a host of as well as pre-WW2 plastic ship models and auto exotics." Should read : Also built a host of pre-WW2 plastic ship models and auto exotics. Sorry.

Thank you Did a couple of balsa ones too, WW1 fighters. They had some "paper like fabric".
The rest were plastic kits though. Cars, bikes, ships and a lot of military stuff, WW 1 & 2 and more modern stuff.
As a result of building tons of military models and being fascinated by their history (and history in general) I grew up to be a peace loving philosophic freethinker biker who loves to play strategic war games on a computer

Have you played any of the Total War series (my fave)?

Yes, Shogun 1 & 2 and Rome Total War I loved I skipped Rome 2 because it got so bad reviews as a buggy piece of … "it".

I've played & modded MTW I/Viking Expansion, MTW II, RTW I/Barbarian Invasion & Alexander Expansions. Thinking about getting Empire/Napoleon (late to the party as mixed reception by TW community) & Shogun II (not sure about campaign quality with this one as Shogun I was sorely lacking in this dept., but graphics look fantastic) . My sense is that Sega is trying to turn the TW series into console games as strategy aspect is slowly being eliminated. Skipping RTW II and probably all the upcoming releases from Sega. Creative Assembly's talents are just being wasted by Sega, although I'm sure they are happy to be making money. Wishing you many hours of happy campaigning.

Ah, I had forgotten MTW 1. I have that one too. Rome 1 is still my favourite of the series followed by Shogun 2. Napoleon I skipped because I prefer the "Spears, swords, bows and catapults" era.
I agree, it has felt like they "dumb down" games in general these days to fit the casual player masses. Hardcore serious gamers are a minority as customers.
I am a die hard PC gamer, but I do have an Xbox 360. I have one game I like on it, Forza 4. Simply because it looks good and they made it fun to drive with a gamepad. I do have better PC driving games, but they are too simulator like and unforgiving to drive without using pedals and a steering wheel controller. Forza 4 is better as casual fun on the movie canvas in the living room.
Now comes Xbox One and Forza 5. Great I thought, now they have performance and storage so they can put more meat on the bones of the game... such as more tracks, cars, improved stats & record tracking, new competition forms, more customizable cars... What do they do? They strip down the game from Forza 4 and make it a worse game

Thank you Roy … I loved assembling and painting models as a kid… Airfix, Revell, Tamiya are some of the brands I remember … did a Hawker Tempest too
