Description Helloooo... Lookie, mastel give me plesent! Vely nice vloom vloom!

Made it 1680 x 1050 so I could submit it into the wallpaper section.

Poser 8 render. Only cleaned some render artefacts with photoshop.
Had to do this one as several area renders because Poser kept running out of memory. Thus I don't know the exact render time, but I estimate it at between 24-30 hours.

Great work.............................But.....................................How do you have the patience to render 24-30 hours?!!  I get fed up after 20-30 minutes!!

Thank you I have 3 computers now (used to have 4), so while one renders, I can do something else on another Renders that take tens of hours are exceptions, most of them renders in a few hours.

I see you like to make stock images You are 78 year old Poser user? I'm impressed

awesome render. I've seen some amazing car renders in poser recently with some great reflections.. I'm going to have to learn how to do this

Lynxander In reply to RetroDevil [2010-03-28 18:42:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks I was thinking of making another one too. A cliché "Car and Babe" pic, to see if I can make them both look good in the same render with this sort of light setup.

Well, the lighting part would be easy to explain in a note I also changed the body color and the rims on the car.

Looks awesome for a Poser render, nice reflections! You can reduce memory load by reducing bucket size and pixel sampling.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lynxander In reply to ken1171 [2010-03-28 18:05:37 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, glad you like it
I had the bucket size at 8 or 16. I don't remember what value I used for pixel sampling, but usually I use something between 7-16. Raytrace bounces were at 3.

I don't know why, but sometimes my Poser eats memory like mad, especially with IDL. When I have the task manager open I can see the Poser 8 process go up to about 3.6 GB before it crashes. If I render the scene as several area renders I can get the scene rendered

ken1171 In reply to Lynxander [2010-03-28 20:51:30 +0000 UTC]

In theory, pixel sampling and raytrace bounces should only affect rendering times, not memory usage so much. Perhaps the problem is that Poser 8 is still 32-bits, and that limits how much memory and resources the program can use, no matter how much RAM your computer may have. In my experience, pixel samples higher than 6 often result into out-of-memory crashes, so I try to be more conservative with it nowadays. The truth is that Firefly sucks with antialiasing, because it increases rendering times exponentially. LOL

Lynxander In reply to ken1171 [2010-03-31 11:05:19 +0000 UTC]

I don't know much about the tech and theory side of rendering. Increasing pixel sampling and raytrace bounces sure made this render take a LOT longer. Increased bounces made it look a lot better with so many reflective surfaces.
I'll try dropping the pixel samples on some future render to see how big a difference it makes. Thanks

32-bits is a problem. I've got 64-bit W7 running on an Intel Quadcore with 8 GB RAM, but Poser can't use it all
I've been considering the new Poser Pro, but the previous Poser Pro version didn't work at all on my puter for some reason, so it was a total waste of money for me

ken1171 In reply to Lynxander [2010-03-31 22:39:34 +0000 UTC]

The previous Poser 7 Pro was 32-bits, only offering a 64-bits Firefly renderer. Poser Pro 2010 is entirely 64-bits, not just the renderer. In my experience, it has been running very smoothly in W7 64-bits, and now can make use of all of the system resources natively, which is something Poser 7 Pro could never do. If you own both Poser 8 and Poser 7 Pro, S-M is offering Poser Pro 2010 for only $50, but I think *TODAY* is the last day for this promo! ^^

ken1171 In reply to Lynxander [2010-04-05 20:45:13 +0000 UTC]

Poser 7 Pro was a 64-bit application? Funny, efrontier officially told me it is 32-bits, where only the FFRender module was 64-bits. Smith Micro is claiming Poser Pro 2010 to be the very first version of Poser to ever be native 64-bits, not just the renderer.

Lynxander In reply to ken1171 [2010-04-06 17:06:01 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, misunderstanding, not what I meant. I thought Poser Pro 2010 was going to be a 32-bit app too, so I was surprised to hear that it is actually 64-bit. It makes me much more interested in it.

ken1171 In reply to Lynxander [2010-04-06 21:02:27 +0000 UTC]

Smith Micro caused a *lot* of confusion amongst the 3D community by hiding the Poser Pro 2010 features up to the last minute. Until the day of release, S-M would only list the same Poser 8 features while calling them "new", and that would not compel anybody to buy it if they already had Poser 8 (duh!). To make things even more confusing, people at the forums were spreading all sorts of false rumors and gossip about the "real" new features, since S-M wouldn't reveal them themselves. S-M's inability to promote Poser Pro 2010 still amazes me, because I actually bought this and the new features are very worth mentioning, and hiding them makes absolutely no sense to me.
