Description
"Amelia"5.25"x8": mixed media; collage, gesso, pen & ink, inktense and watercolor pencils.
So I was going to start doing my robin painting I wanted to do and look what I found in one of the books I like to tear up! I picture of Amelia Earhart, the first lady to fly solo across the Atlantic! how perfect. So I came up with that painting.
I think the only problem I have with the robin is it's upper red breast. it looks kind of sloppy. :/
But I wrote another poem after I painted it. Well actually I wrote two, and than another one this morning
The ghost of Amelia came to me one day,
she asked me where she was, but I didn't know what to say,
I told her she died after flying so high,
and she reminded me again that she was the first woman to fly,
she looked at me displeased and than started to weep,
"What happened," she asked, "did I drown in the ocean, that is for too deep?"

bah. it took me forever to get around to commenting on this.
i quite like this new style you've been working in. drawing and painting on book pages. it's lovely. and it's touching, the bird speaking of Amelia. fitting really. and what I like best about this, is how the words are between the foreground and the background. floating in the middle ground.
very nice work!

looks good, but i acctually think the white behind amelia pops out too much. Maybe you could make that grey tones...but i definatly love the paper you used and how you composed this peice using the robin. Its beautiful
