Description
Ok. so here is the whole thing. All of the buttons are pushable. The on and off switch moves, and the volume dial turns.I also made a removable game cartridge.
Yup. that's that. Done with cardboard for a long time.
EDIT: Oh my gosh guys...I am literally in tears. I never thought this would get so many views and favorites. And even end up on the front page! Thank you all so much. I can't even. This is really something i never thought would happen. ;A;
EDIT AGAIN: Aww, thanks for the DD!

O_O share your cardboard crafting magic....please. lol...but really, do you think you could write up a guide on how you did this? I have a ton of cardboard boxes laying around taking up space and I think making something as awesome as this out of them would be kickass and very green. Otherwise they'll just be tossed in the recycling bin again...which is good but I would love to use them for something.

This was my first time working with cardboard and also working at such a large scale. I wish i could tell you how i did it, but it was mainly trial, error, and A LOT of measurements. I measured every part of my gameboy than just scaled it up. Sorry i can't be of more help. I have process pictures on my tumblr in my art tag. They are a few pages back if you are interested in seen them. [link]

Hm...I suppose I could figure something out. I don't think i'll try doing one as big as yours lol, I don't think I would have room in my bedroom for one that size.
What glue did you use on it, also was the cardboard just normal stuff from shipping boxes or that heavy duty cardboard?

MaboroshiTira In reply to Astor-Reinhardt [2013-06-10 04:56:57 +0000 UTC]
Mine was only that large because it was a requirement. I would never have thought to create something at that scale.
I used just regular hot glue. And i'm kind of a perfectionist. So i didn't want to use cardboard from different stores. Having logos or creases would bother me. I ended up buying 8 foot sheets of corrugated cardboard from ULINE.

That's a lot of cardboard lol. I think these shipping boxes will work then..just have to make sure the print is on the inside so I don't see any logos.
Hot glue, don't have any of that..would another glue work like normal craft glue?

Probably not. Everyone i know who did this project used hot glue. It dries a lot quicker and has the strength to hold. Otherwise you would probably end up holding the pieces of cardboard together until they dry. And that doesn't sound fun. :c

This makes me happy that someone else uses cardboard to make art, It also makes me slightly jealous that it is as popular as it is.

I had never really worked with cardboard prior to making this. It was a nice experience.
I just looked at your cardboard stuff. You have some pretty nice pieces!
Honestly, I think that the only reason it is so popular is because i chose to make something as iconic as a Gameboy.
